Rep Power: 20525 | Re: Here Come The Beancounters kgbud.....You are right. It is absolutely absurd to involve any corporate aspect to our community. One fight at a time. The first matter at hand is to concentrate on Nov. 16th and my prediction is that City Hall will be incompetent and as inept as they always have been which will lead to more delays months and months ahead of us before any ordinance gets proposed. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Here Come The Beancounters I don't think this card is meant to be a solution to any problems but rather another step toward legitimising our movement through the inclusion of national corporate interests. However, I don't think these cards should be anything more than an OPTION. I don't believe legally they could be made mandatory due to exclusivity laws, but I would oppose any effort to make the card a requirement. Honestly though, I don't see much draw to use the card on a voluntary basis anyway. Why would someone want to tie up his/her cash on a card that you can only use at a specific dispensary when you can take the state card anywhere? |

The Commerce Online branded, pre-paid loyalty and ID card will be marketed through our new Collective Card Services division, and may be loaded to any denomination of funds with direct deposit at local bank, via the Internet, POS system by the member of the collective or medical dispensary. Thanks BB for the post. | |

Rep Power: 34801 | Re: Here Come The Beancounters But the real question is... Can we get Commerce Bank to lobby on our behalf? I don't like the idea of teaming up with corporations...and I dont know if this would stop co-ops from being raided but... Think of it this way... Corporations (unfortunately) have more influence on policy makers than individuals or grassroots orgs (especially a stigmatized group like us mmj patients). If Commerce wants to jump in and work with co-ops both financially and politically, then I welcome them aboard! |

Rep Power: 154582 | Re: Here Come The Beancounters I don't see it as much different than a credit card, the corp takes 2% for the transaction. I am not sure I like the idea of any big corporations getting in the act, but and if we are going to be realistic if MMJ continues to grow something like this may evolve anyway. Some shops are taking credit cards now paying the 2% for the service. Maybe there is a way to make this work for us. I am simply not sure if the good outweighs the bad. |

Rep Power: 627816 | Re: Here Come The Beancounters The idea is interesting...it skirts the law basically, utilizing loopholes...not a bad idea, other than the added costs to the Co-op/Collective, Truth is, this is the way the world is heading....load the card online while at home, head out to the store, never carry cash, never go to an ATM, pre-plan your spending....I don't like it, see no need for it, especially with debit cards, regardless... |

Rep Power: 2964 | Re: Here Come The Beancounters Personally, Anything electronic is a way to track what and when and where you are going and I don't like it! Even my banker told me that everyone should use the ATM to get cash and spend the cash only. Every time you use a debit card, you are painting a picture of your life style and habits. In the wrong hands, this is dangerous. For businesses, this is a loss of an average of 3% including all the transactions fees. Use cash as much as possible!! |
