Rep Power: 320 | Columbus man says marijuana for medical use Columbus man says marijuana for medical use December 20, 2007 A Columbus man arrested for a marijuana growing operation in Henderson County says it was created to supply medical marijuana. Todd Odell Aiken Sr., 50, was charged with one felony count of maintaining a vehicle, dwelling or place for a controlled substance and one felony count of manufacturing marijuana. He was released from the Henderson County Detention Center after posting a $20,000 secured bond. His wife, Sharon Elicia Reed Aiken, 35, was charged with one felony count of conspiracy to sell and deliver marijuana and two felony counts of trafficking in marijuana. She was released on a written promise to appear. Todd Aiken says he started using marijuana for medical purposes while going through treatments for Hepatitis C. He later started providing it to cancer and leukemia patients, he says. He says he plans to fight the charges and work with Jean Marlowe of Mill Spring to protect the rights of cannabis patients. Marlowe is the director of a new chapter of Americans for Safe Access in Mill Spring. Note: Look for more coverage in Friday’s Bulletin. http://www.tryondailybulletin.com/news/22176.asp |
