City may ban marijuana dispensaries
City Council could vote as early as next month on outright ban on storefront dispensaries

SANTA ANA City officials are moving toward a permanent ban on medical-marijuana dispensaries, following the lead of several other Orange County cities.

The city council could vote as early as next month on an outright ban on storefront dispensaries and other suppliers of medical marijuana. The proposed law would not apply to hospitals, hospices or other state-licensed care centers.

State law allows for the use of marijuana for medical purposes, but federal law prohibits any use of marijuana. In Santa Ana, city planners and attorneys say they're not willing to sign off on businesses that break federal law, even if state law says it's ok.

The city has had a temporary ban on marijuana dispensaries in place for nearly two years. The proposal now headed toward a council vote would make that ban permanent.

Other Orange County cities, including Anaheim and Costa Mesa, have already banned medical-marijuana dispensaries, according to a report given to Santa Ana's public safety committee late Tuesday. At least thirty other California cities have also banned dispensaries, and 70 more have enacted temporary moratoriums.

LOL Santa Ana is fuckin funny as hell. They have one of the highest Illegal Immigration rates and yet they will not allow dispensaries to be in their city because they violate federal law. I think we as patients should attend this city council meeting and find out what they plan on doing with all the illegals since they violate federal law as well.

Hahahah so true. Have you driven down 4th or 5th st in Santa Ana near downtown??? Its literally reminiscent of Tijuana. & Anaheim is not far behind.

Costa Mesa is the White Supremecy capitol of the county with all of its hate crimes & police brutality....


Its a good thing they're focusing on the real threats in this god foresaken county.

I'm an honorable gun owner, but going to the gun show in the O.C. (costa mesa fairgrounds) was waaay different than going to the gun show in Del Mar. Large Nazi flags being sold, third reich stuff being sold, aunt Jemima type statues being sold. I just couldn't believe I was in the likes of such people. Never again will I go to a gun show there.

Believe me, Del Mar was different. So was Glendale. Maybe you expect that in Arizona, or some other state, but I didn't expect it an hour away from L.A.

I know what you are saying I have also been to the gun show out here. You are correct with the Nazi paraphenalia that they sell. It would make sense to because anyone who has lived in the OC for any period of time knows, that Costa Mesa and Newport are rascist cities in Orange County not to mention corrupt as fuck. I know for a fact that Costa Mesa and Newport are hardcore anti gay and anyone who lives in those cities will tell you, if you are gay stay out. The cops will beat the shit out of you for being gay. I know this cause I have known people who were gay that I worked with that have been through there and had the crap kicked out of them before they got to the station.

Interesting, I have lived in Costa Mesa almost all of my life and I have never heard this. I have several friends and aquantances that are gay and I even know there are 2 gays bars in Costa Mesa.
