I don't know what they are fighting back against as the venice collective has the right to sell their marijuana and make money from the medical problems of their neighbors. LA county has approximately 1000 dispensaries.

AsI already have safe access to medicine I don't need to fight. I can easily go to any one of 1000 dispensaries. There are five within walking distance from my home. I can drive to countless more. I can also use a delivery service.

The doctors and the number of locations for meds. is part of the problem! If they get what they want we will have no locations!! They are angry because mmj has been taken advantage of and yes it has!!

A very profound thing to say....You do not have Safe Access...Anyone of those "dispensaries" which are illegal by the way, can be raided and shut down at any given notice. For you to say you don;t need to fight makes me sick to my stomach. All of us as patients have the "obligation" to fight if we want this to continue..This isn't just about getting high!

that there are too many profiteers and that they are to blame for
actions taking place. Then you scaremonger that all collectives will be
shut down. How many have been shut down in the last 6 months
in Los Angeles? I'd say less than 10%. Given that you people think
that there are too many open, you'd think such a crackdown would
make you people happy, but instead, you use it to spread more fear
and paranoia.

I think this is why MMJ activists have such poor credibility. You all
spread fear and paranoia no matter what happens. Ever heard the
story of the boy that cried wolf? Well, you people have pretty much
done that to this community. The endorsement of Trutanich is
the icing on the cake. Why should we do what you insist is important
when one of your biggest directives was so completely wrong?

If you are wondering why so many MMJ
patients are apathetic, you only have yourselves to blame.

This is a real war and we need to stand up and be counted. I just did 3 years in Federal Prison and this could happen to anyone. There are a lot of patients that need their medicine and the reason it is available is that there are many people like ASA that are fighting for our right to our medicine. Instead of just buying your medicine because you can help the struggle and fight for your rights.

Really? If there are "enough" good people, why do you all complain all the
time about there being so few people at protests?

I expressed disappointment at how many attended the recent protests. But to blame actual activists who actually attended the actual protests for the small turnout is about the single stupidest thing I have ever seen on Weedtracker. The clinics have a right to fight back. This moratorium which placed a cork on new dispensaries is from 2007. Back when the number of patients where not as high as today.
The only reason why we have so many illegaly opened locations is because the city failed to follow thru with the stack of filed hardship applications. If they had created the right body to deal with this mess, we would never have had illegal co-ops.
The fact is that we need new collectives, and we need regulation.
The regulation that city attorney Trutanich is proposing is absolutely ridiculous. By closing all dispensaries and collectives you only push people to buy from an illegal source.
Perhaps the city pretends to gain more money by arresting folks for possesion and forcing them to sign up to all this
dui programs. If that is the plan then they are on the right track.
But that is not the plan that the city of Los Angeles residents have. We voted for an mmj bill and we got it.
When the city sat down and decide to pass regulation on 07, we sat down too. Regulation was passed and it benefited everyone equally back then. I am not saying these places are already being runned by organized crime. If they were, it would cost 80 dollars an 8th...
Now it's time for the city to do the same, and allow both sides of the bargain table to speak, and pass regulation
that would not eradicate cannabis, but make it less prone
to organized crime to gain access and run collectives and dispensaries for profit.
If you see an 8th being sold for 65 and up, that's likely to be profit.
