Rep Power: 47841 | Over the last few weeks, I’ve had several opportunities to attend Q & A sessions with the Obama administration’s drug czar, Gil Kerlikowske. Increasingly, the audiences are asking him about the cartels in Mexico.A typical question goes something like this: “Wouldn’t ending marijuana prohibition in the U.S. wipe out the drug cartels like the 21st [...] To read more, visit the MPP Website by clicking here.. |

Rep Power: 1181 | Re: Mexican Cartels Continue To Illustrate Our Point I dont think it would affect the cartels one bit. They seem to think that thats all they are importing...we have to remember they still have Meth, Coke, and Heroin coming in. It'll put a little dent in there income but thats not they're only source. Does anyone even buy any mexican weed anymore? |

um...you would be surprised. I've heard around over 60% of their profits are from marijuana sales. IMO it would affect the drug cartels. They are in arizona making most of their profits and they are probably driving right threw cali and our medical marijuana. knowing what they got cant compete with our high grade medicine.

Sure, but if you take away a major source of funding, that makes a big dent. Consider again my mafia analogy. Sure, they aren't dead, but do you think they have anywhere near the power and influence they had during the prohibition era?

time will tell dear basher, whether or not mmj will be treated like alcohol. many regular folk treat it like alcohol everyday, they call it "weed" or just plain ole "marijuana", where over here, we call it medicine... and, the cartels are just an "illusion", just like what we are experiencing this very moment, an illusion.... peace buddy

Rep Power: 4914 | Re: Mexican Cartels Continue To Illustrate Our Point gangmembers and the drug cartels and dispensary owners all recognize the demand for marijuana. if it ever becomes legalized itll need to be considerably cheaper as to move the gangmembers and drug cartels onto a different drug and away from the profitless market of marijuana. |

Rep Power: 4914 | Re: Mexican Cartels Continue To Illustrate Our Point if its highly taxed, that wont discourage the marijuana black market.. people will still buy from the street. which is why I think the government would be wise to tax it, just not heavily. maybe charge 30-35 bucks an 1/8th total, 200 for an oz of medicine. if it does get legalized, id expect nothing less or forget it. ill grow my own. just my 2 cents. :) |
