Rep Power: 47841 | Yesterday, voters in*Oakland, California overwhelmingly approved a proposal, backed by the city’s medical marijuana community, that will create a new local sales tax for marijuana. Rep Power: 127208 | Re: Marijuana Taxes to be Part of City Budget Fix July 21, 2009. Mark this date down. This is the day that the MMJ co-ops decided to suck-ass to the politicians, and bend the sick patients over and take their wallets!!! These four greedy brown-nosed co-ops have unilaterally raised the tax exponentially in an effort to curry favor with politicians, because they will happily pass this cost on to the sick patients. Let it be known to all in our community that these co-ops received NOTHING in return from the city of Oakland!!! Just some sort of comfort that they are bestowing onto themselves, but the ones who will be paying this are the SICK PATIENTS!!! |

i suppose your against the sales taxes that collectives pay as well? i hate taxes as much as the next guy, but they need to be paid so we can drive on roads that are paved and have teachers in the schools. and if i have to pay a few cents more to buy my meds in order to be able to drive to the collective on a paved road, then so be it.

Lets go over this: $18 per $1,000.00 sounds like peanuts, but it is alot when the rate is $1.20 before this bullshit! I count that as an EIGHT TIMES more tax!!! Do you think the co-ops are going to absorb this themselves???? OF COURSE NOT!!! YES, as a matter of fact I am against MMJ patients having to pay sales tax! Do Vicodan users have to pay sales tax? Chemotherapy users? Of course not! Only MMJ patients have to pay sales tax. But this is not NEARLY as bad as a freaking BROWN-NOSE tax like this one. If any Weedtracker is aware of any benefit to MMJ patients from this, please chime in. I see it as a easy pass-through to the sick patients which then allows the co-ops to look like nice and compliant ass-sucking citizens. The fact that this was put to a public vote is another freaking joke. I am amazed that so many patients can't smell the obvious rat!!! We, the patients, are getting sold down the river by greedy co-ops and politicians who obviously don't respect that we are not healthy people to begin with.
