| Marijuana Policy Project (MPP) Marijuana prohibition has failed. It's time for a new approach, and MPP is leading the way. Since our founding in 1995, we've been making real progress in reforming U.S. marijuana laws. |

Rep Power: 121290 | U.S. Attorney General Eric Holden reinforced the White House’s policy that federal resources shouldn’t be wasted raiding medical marijuana dispensaries that operate within state law yesterday in a Justice Department press conference. You already know this, but considering that the DEA has conducted hundreds of these stupid raids over the past several years, this is a [...] To read more, visit the MPP Website by clicking here.. |

Rep Power: 617 | Re: Attorney General Reiterates Call for DEA to Back Off in Medical Marijuana States Even if they say Back Off to the DEA there will still be recidivism, LEO will have a difficult time saying goodbye to asset forfeiture. I believe they have become very lazy in every respect, the lack of proper investigative practices have caused a great deal of innocent people to be thrown in jail. There are Law Enforcement officers that are still stuck in 1937, so until proper training is given to these individuals rhetorical stereotyping will still be prevalent. The fight is no where near over, yet we are winning. My God we are fucking winning !!! |

Rep Power: 102023 | Re: Attorney General Reiterates Call for DEA to Back Off in Medical Marijuana States What are you talking about he said it very clearly: Speaking at a press conference with DEA administrator Michelle Leonhart, Attorney General Eric Holder declared that ending medical marijuana raids "is now American policy." A reporter asked, "shortly after the inauguration there were raids on California medical marijuana dispensaries...do you expect these to continue?", noting that the President had promised to end the raids in the campaign. Holder responded, "What the President said during the campaign...is consistent with what we will be doing here in law enforcement. He was my boss in the campaign....He is my boss now. What he said in the campaign is now American policy." !!! The question appears about 25 minutes into the press conference, which was devoted to an operation against the Mexican Sinaloa drug cartel. http://www.c-span.org/Watch/watch.as...aId=HP-A-15821 Federal Raids are now a thing of the past folks. |

Rep Power: 617 | Re: Attorney General Reiterates Call for DEA to Back Off in Medical Marijuana States 20 bucks says some DEA office wont get the memo. Just look at the state of California its 2009 the law was passed in 1996 and many local as well as state cops still won't acknowledge it. Now, Whether they are basing their case upon federal laws or lack of definitive state oversight there are still people being persecuted. Many Cops and Judges are still being completely unreasonable we all know this. They need replaced or retrained its just that simple. When not if....WHEN we finally win this we mustn't stop for there are still people incarcerated for no reason that need to be released. I am full of hope yet still worried, as I take a hit off my bubbler lol |

Rep Power: 1004 | Re: Attorney General Reiterates Call for DEA to Back Off in Medical Marijuana States That's a state issue, there is nothing Obama can do in his power to require California abide by it's own laws. Maybe now that we can't put all of the blame on the federal government we can turn our attention to where it always should have been, on our state government, more importantly, the Governator. He has consistently been a road block to what little progress we have attempted to make. He vetoed the hemp bill, and vetoed our right to work. It's time to turn up the heat on the governator! |

Rep Power: 224 | Re: Attorney General Reiterates Call for DEA to Back Off in Medical Marijuana States Last Monday, the US Supreme Court Monday quietly, but overwhelmingly destroyed the allegations by state law enforcement that, “Federal law trumps state laws on medical marijuana.” The Supremes declined to review a lower court decision that ordered Garden Grove, California, police to return marijuana seized from a medical marijuana patient. In November 2007, the California Fourth District Court of Appeal had ordered the marijuana returned, finding that “it is not the job of local police to enforce federal drug laws.” This was the fourth shot the Supremes had at bringing down Prop. 215 and, instead, the high court handed us a silent, but deadly victory. It may be a win by default, but it is most certainly a huge win, perhaps our greatest win to date. |

Rep Power: 1004 | Re: Attorney General Reiterates Call for DEA to Back Off in Medical Marijuana States The only candidate that looks like they will have any chance in the 2010 California governor election is Meg Whitman, a republican who was Mitt Romney's national finance chair in the primaries, then backed McCain when he dropped out. I don't know what her views are on medical marijuana, but she's a republican that backed Romney, he's more two faced than Arnold could ever be, I wouldn't be expecting an election to make things any better for us. We can't just sit around and wait for the perfect medical marijuana politician to just happen to land in office, that's just not going to happen. If we want change we have to make things change. That means we have to get up off our asses and do more than just simply vote in an election. Everybody has to do their part in contacting their local representatives, if you don't know who they are do a google search and find out. You might be surprised to find they are more local than you would expect. Before sending them an e-mail or letter talking about medical marijuana, it's best to learn a little about them personally first. Sign up to their newsletter, find out what they have accomplished in your local community and when you write your letter make sure you thank them for that before expressing your concerns about medical marijuana. If you show some care and respect for the work they do, who knows, they might just do the same for you and take your medical marijuana concerns seriously. Writing letters to your local newspaper is also an excellent way of getting people in your community talking about medical marijuana. Take your time and write out a well thought out, personal letter. Chances are most people reading will ignore it and hold onto whatever beliefs they have, but we can't keep hiding as if we are a minority. Much smaller groups than ours have done a hell of a lot more at changing laws, there's no reason we can't force these politicians to listen to our needs. [/political rant] |
