This is a new drug known as 'strawberry
quick'.

There is a type of crystal meth going around that looks
like strawberry pop rocks (the candy that sizzles and 'pops' in your mouth).
It smells like strawberry and it is being handed out to kids in school yards
They are calling it strawberry meth or strawberry quick.

Kids are ingesting it thinking that it is candy and
being rushed off to the hospital in critical condition. It also comes in
chocolate, peanut butter, cola, cherry, grape and orange.

Please instruct your children not to accept candy from
strangers and not to accept candy that looks like this from a friend (who
may have been given it and believe it is candy.) If they receive any candy
they should take it to a teacher, principal, etc. immediately. < BR>
Pass this email on to as many people as you can (even if
they don't have kids) so that we can raise awareness and hopefully prevent
any tragedies from occurring.

'Strawberry Quick,' the revamped street drug is targeted
at teenagers and represents the latest strategy by drug traffickers to
counteract slumping sales.

It's a big Urban/bs scare story, while meth sucks it is Not being flavored and handed out to school children.

Some meth is pinkish colored from the pills it's made from, but all of the stuff is very bitter, maybe in some isolated incidents someone used strawberry scent to cover the smell or something, but come on how gullible are you, yeah "they" are flavoring it and handing it out to school children.

It's "the drug traffickers" new marketing ploy "since their sales are slumping"..... this guy is an Idiot, same type who fuels the "Refer Madness" mentality.

Reefer madness? So are ya saying that speed is ok? Hey I see nothing wrong with warning people of something that could have potentially fatal consequences! I hope this isn't true, but these days it's hard to tell. I don't know about you, but I have kids,and so do a lot of trackers and I don't see how a thread like this can hurt anything, better safe than sorry!

Snopes is always your best bet with things like this. They have a very long response to it so it's best you check the page out yourself. Long story short: sort of true.

But I was saying it's better to teach the kids the TRUTH about drugs, not a bunch of scary whacked out stories, that get circulated around the internet....just give this a google and see.

Nuts like this guy are going to jump on the medicated ice cream, and other goodies someday, just wait and see.....look out those drug dealers are handing out pot laced suckers on the schoolyard, their sales are down.

If you want to teach them the TRUTH why not take and Show them Yourself a bunch of the negative terrible consequences of METH it's right here, just GooGle there's endless resources.
Show Your kids what it the stuff really looks like, where they will really encounter it..ETC....Take them for a car ride and show them some of the unfortunate people hooked on it, or even homeless because of good ole Meth.

At least that's a small part of how I've educated my child about drugs so far, no need to throw in a bunch of whacked out stories for me, the truth is scary enough.

This is the dumbest thing ive ever heared in my life people making meth to look and smell like pop rocks. Its obnoxious. Im sry to say but anyone over 10 should have the common sense to refuse anything offered to them by a stranger. Also when i was 9 i knew not to accept candy from strangers and to this day on halloween if i decide to go out which is rare being almost 21 i know to not ingest anything that wasnt in its from the manufacture sealed container be it a wrapper or whatever.

I hate to say it but the person who posted this isnt 100! right. Snopes had the same waring posted on their website yet the most important part was not included, Snopes wont allow me to copy paste and im not going to type it all out. Basically snopes said that what was said in that warning is simply not true.

This is something made up by people as a way to scare people that a drug is a much bigger issue then it is. Meth is a very dangerous substance and not only can ruin lifes but usually does ruin lifes. Ive seen first hand what happens to people who use and it isnt pretty. I never have and never will use meth in any way shape or form. Its deadly. The idea that dealers are giving away meth that looks like candy is flat out rediculous. Meth isnt a cheap drug and i doubt a dealer is gonna be giving out a modified probably more expensive form of meth. It simply wont happen. Meth isnt a communal drug either. People who use dont let people know about it they try to hide the problem until usually its to late.

I think the best way to educate minors on drugs is to show what real addicts look like, how drugs have changed them and such. Telling people something is bad without showing real world examples only makes those people want to try it and find out if what was said is really true and sadly it is and the small amount "tried" is often time more then enough to get them addicted. Some people are ignorant enough to believe what people tell them while others seek the truth the sad thing is with most street drugs what is said is true and these substances can ruin your life and the lifes of those around you.

Notice how i said most street drugs. Not all street drugs are terrible i mean many of us medical patients where getting pot from a dealer before we became medical. Acid and shrooms are abused yet if used properly and i know people are going to get mad about this Acid and shrooms can be used as a spiritual release and when used rarely and carefully can be usefull. The guy who discovered the double helix which is one of the biggest discoveries in DNA make up did so while on acid.

The problem thats worse then street drugs is Prescription drug companies. These people feel that by modifying a common street drug and making it so that it helps some even though it may have a novels worth of side effects some which are deadly they are doing good. I was prescribed adderol for ADD many people i know have been prescribed this and its misprescibed so often its not funny. Its Methamphetamine with out the Meth in the front. This stuff is possibly worth then meth and as far as im concerned is. For the 2 months i took the stuff i went from having a few focus problems every once in a while to a complete zombie. I became unable to do certain tasks. I felt as if i was on the brink of death. I fainted several times, lost my appetite completely and was litterally unable to focus on one thing for more then a few minutes at the most. I lived on McDonalds ice cream cones because it was able all i could actually finnish without feeling sick. Yet when i finally decided i was tired of feeling sick and about to die i quit taking the stuff cold turkey. And guess what within a week i was back to normal. I went back to smoking pot and then my abilty to focus went up dramatically. I was getting A's on every test i took in school. I was able to focus so well that i got to a point where instead of doing homework i would just read the book and take my own notes. Homework became tedious and pointless to me. I was getting A's on tests and D's on report cards. Not because i couldnt grasp the concept of the class but because the teachers in highschool like to base grades on homework and i didnt need the practice.

A few teachers got irritated when i was writing programs for machine shop classes at pierce college instead of working on homework in class when they allowed it. The sad thing was i was able to write 2-3 programs in the time it took people to finnish 12 math problems and not even hard ones at that. The few times i did do homework in class i was finnishing 10-15 minutes before the kids who had A's in the class and if the teacher went over the work chances were the kids with A's missed more then half the problems. Yet i had all correct answers.

I can clearly remember that in my junior yr i had taken up smoking as my way of medicating. I had a F in my american history class and was told by the teacher if i didnt get a B or better i wouldnt pass. The week of finals i came to school heavily medicated everyday. I took the test and got a 100% that goes for the history class and all the others. I passed that class with a C+. I finnished first and most people thought i just bubbled in the answers the teacher himself asked me several times if i wanted another scantron to redo the test because he didnt believe that the kid who came to class drank some milk then fell asleep could finnish so fast and do any good. He was amazed how well i did. My science teacher assumed i had cheated off the person sitting next to me but she discovered that student had failed the final while i didnt miss a single question. The worst was my english teacher we had to write an essay which i hated doing yet when all was said and done he told me i had the best essay.

This was before i was medical i was 18 at the time i waited till then before even considering any drug be it weed or coke or whatever else. I started smoking and realized what i had been missing.

I would think the point is to warn your children not scare them. The more information (as opposed to misinformation) available to your children the better. I raised five kids in LA and was always truthfull about drugs and the issues surrounding them and none of my kids have those issues. I believe because of my openness and complete honesty about my experiences with drugs and the effects. My parents had a much different approach more like the war on drugs propoganda scare tactics and all it did was make me want to try things when I was younger because I thought that they where lying to me and just trying to scare me. I took a different approach and it worked.

Hey very sorry if I sounded like a jerk I got nothing but Respect for You, you are just trying to help out.

I just remember all the crazy drug propaganda I had to deal with growing up in the 70's and 80's, and I go Ugggg, that's probably why I'm always so skeptical and cynical with the War on D stuff.
