Rep Power: 387 | Michael Vick's NFL Punishment How do you guys think Roger Goodell should punish Michael Vick for his recent 'legal' troubles? Those that don't know, Falcons quarterback Michael Vick and three others were charged on July 17 with competitive dogfighting, procuring and training pit bulls for fighting and conducting the enterprise across state lines. Rep Power: 387 | Re: Michael Vick's NFL Punishment Just to stir up a little argument...remember Ray Lewis got indicted for killing a person!! No suspension, nothing! Just another note, kinda glad we traded out of that pick in 2001 and picked up LaDainian Tomlinson instead! Go Chargers!!! Last edited by alex52; 07-20-2007 at 10:55 AM.. |

Rep Power: 16 | Re: Michael Vick's NFL Punishment indictment and conviction are different. Innocent till ptoven guilty. If you ban him from playing now and he's found innocent in court you've punished an innocent man. Plenty of time to punish after the verdict. |

Rep Power: 15 | Re: Michael Vick's NFL Punishment I voted innocent until proven guilty. Much respect for our legal system (flawed yes, but superior to the protections provided many other nations). And I hate how "the public" always "tries" every celebrity in the court of public opinion, which shows disrespect for rules of evidence, discovery and due course. All that said...just based on the circumstantial detail revealed so far, it seems unlikely that Vick is not guilty of at least tolerating this animal cruelty to continue on his property. If he is proven guilty, he should never play in the NFL again. Role model indeed. Sick of thuggery, testosterone poisoning and inflated senses of self-importance and entitlement. Bully breeders suck...certainly not the responsible ones, but the entire culture that admires, tolerates and cultivates vicious dogs...so repugnant. Not hating the breeds (though I do fear some breeds because their owners are so frequently louts and irresponsible "tough guys" who adore owning a loaded gun/dog) but hating the danger they pose due to crappy owners. |

Rep Power: 387 | Re: Michael Vick's NFL Punishment Unfortunately this is the NFL, not the US judicial system. The commissioner Roger Goodell is the Judge, Jury and Executioner in this system. Remember PacMan Jones? He was suspended for a whole year for being at a stip club where there was a drive-by shooting. Far as we know he didn't even fire the gun! |

lol , no u didn't if u think i was talking about gurlacher. gurlacher is a solid lb don't get me wrong, abit over rated though.Ray isn't the dominant force he once was, but still very effective. Not to change the topic , u think turner will win this year? | |

Rep Power: 26 | Re: Michael Vick's NFL Punishment Michael Vick should have no NFL punishment imposed on him. Let the court system play out and determine if he is guilty or not. It won't matter what the NFL does if he is convicted and sentenced in the way the media is reporting. For his sake I hope he is not as guilty as they claim but if he is he has some serious compassion issues that would warrant serious jail time. The NFL should stay out of it and let the legal system work it out. |

Rep Power: 727 | Re: Michael Vick's NFL Punishment I have to say he should be suspended for a year. I am not rushing to any conclusions in saying whether he is guilty or not but I do think he associates with the wrong people. I feel that there are too many pro athletes that hang out w/ the wrong people. And Vick has a recent record of a series of bad events all involving him, he can't be innocent in all these incidences. I think too many of these young pro athletes make too much money too quickly and take it for granted. I think Vick is a perfect example of this and it is time he learned a lesson. I think if he does learn from this experience he would be a more suitable team leader and qb. I think from the stand point of the team and even league it would be wise to suspend him for the season. If he is convicted of these charges there is a good chance he could be facing jail time. If not jail he will be punished by the law w/ more than a simple fine and that would effect his playing status anyway. |

Rep Power: 387 | Re: Michael Vick's NFL Punishment I'm in total agreement with you but unfortunately it never works out that way. There are pressures from all sorts of outside sources and the Commissioner and the Falcons Organization are a business based upon image. They're going to be forced to take a hard-line stance way before the trial even takes place. I personally don't think Vick is going to play this year suspension or not. Quote:

The thing about dogs are they will always love their masters, free to forgive, and loyal - more then any human I have ever come across. They are truly a fan of man, and his best friend. I hate people that prey on the innocent. People that outright torture and abuse animals come in second to child predators (sex offenders). They are the lowest rung in society. Of course DEA Agents that prey on innocent and sick medicinal marijuana patients are right down there with them in my opinion as well. All of them equally oportunistic and sick phuckerz! |
