Source: Heat Forms Potentially Harmful Substance In High-fructose Corn Syrup, Bee Study Finds High fructose corn syrup is commonly used in processed foods as a sweetener. Bee hives warm the fructose. Human bodies warm fructose too. What an Oprah moment. No more high fructose corn syrup for me til this gets sorted out. Last edited by HappaGuy; 10-26-2009 at 10:26 PM.. | |

So who decided we could eat the stuff in the first place? Luckily, there are several juices, sodas and candies that don't use it. Seems like everything they come up with to replace or imitate sugar turns up to be toxic? |

Rep Power: 145667 | Re: High Fructose Corn Syrup - Disturbing News About Processed Foods from Honeybees What?! NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's made from corn!!! I thought it was healthy!!!!!!! Damnit!!!! I drink 2 18 packs of Pepsi a day to get my vitamins!!!!!! What ever will I do now!!!!! OK, in all seriousness, let's hope this news is taken seriously and corn syrup is either reduced or eliminated altogether...it is crap, it doesn't even taste as good as the pure sugar alternative..... ...I do really drink about 9-12 cans of Pepsi a day on average, today for instance I have drank 5 cans of Pepsi and eaten one 6oz bag of Gummi worms...and that would be all......people can say whatever they want about addictive substances, I kicked Cocaine without withdrawals or cravings, cold turkey, never gone back...drank really heavy for years, quit that with no issues at all,....when I run out of MMJ I'm not happy about it, but it doesn't trigger cravings or urges...I run out of Pepsi, I lose my appetite, nothing tastes good, I get in a really bad mood, and crave it intensely until I get it...If I don't have a can first thing in the morning I can't wake up and am in a really bad mood till I get some...... ....In my experience, refined sugar and high fructose corn syrup are the most addictive substances know to man, and very dangerous because of it. luckily my body chemistry seems to not have a problem, I am not overweight and do not have blood sugar issues, but I am lucky, and at 35 now I have no doubt the luck will be running thin soon, but so far this is the only substance I simply cannot kick. Rep Power: 7447 | Re: High Fructose Corn Syrup - Disturbing News About Processed Foods from Honeybees There are also reported cases of trace amounts of mercury found in the way some places process the HFCS. So not only are you getting HMF and bad calories you are also getting a dose of mercury. Mercury is one of the most damaging metals for your brain. It destroys neurons in the brain possibly causing serious neurological problems over a lifetime, or just making you very dumb. Mercury is one the hardest metal to get out of your body. Bottom line, eat 100% organic. IMO, I'm pretty sure HFCS is the reason why the U.S. is getting dumber. The United States is one of the only countries that uses it as much as we do. Most European nations, and even Mexico rejected the idea of converting their sugar processing plants to HFCS processors. It is less cost-effective and it is way more dangerous for humans to consume... Why would they do this? Somethings fishy. Last edited by Repsol720; 10-26-2009 at 05:20 PM.. |

Rep Power: 10261 | Re: High Fructose Corn Syrup - Disturbing News About Processed Foods from Honeybees At the 99 cents only store by C.A.R.E. they had a bunch of what was probably a limited run for a sample market or something, of pepsi made with cane sugar in a bottle. Wasn't too bad, though I'm more of a coke, dr. pepper or vernors ginger ale guy when it comes to the cold carbonated poison. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: High Fructose Corn Syrup - Disturbing News About Processed Foods from Honeybees I was able to kick cigarettes cold turkey after 14 years of smoking but sugar was almost the death of me, literally. I was in so much pain I could barely get out of bed a year ago and now I am happy to report I am happy, healthy & sugar free! I can not stress enough how powerful a substance sugar is - HFCS and all processed sugars must be cut from your diet in order to function at optimal ability. I highly recommend AGAVE nectar as a healthy and low glycemic alternative. It works great in iced drinks like green tea to make it sweet without all the harm from processed sugar. I swear I only missed my soda and other sugary drinks for a couple of weeks - once you get over the addiction part, you will feel amazing!! I now have more energy than ever because the stimulant (sugar) which once lifted my spirits & gave me energy is now replaced by natural energy I have from eating the right things, staying hydrated with water and getting enough rest : ) I will not mislead, beating sugar addiction is tough but who said getting healthy would be easy? Try it, it works! |
