Rep Power: 95669       | Errg, I have a love/hate relationship with doctor prescribed meds. So here we go, just a little piece of my mind. So I had to stop using Cannabis a week ago for the possibility of a DOT test, now the part that sucks, I'm having to use those awful prescribed doctor "approved" meds for my conditions. I have daily chronic migraines, bad anxiety, and horrid sleep issues and for me personally Cannabis helped all of those tremendously well. Now the shitty part, I had no choice really but to go to my private doctor and explaine my situation, great, she gave me Zanax for anxiety, Soma, for the back problems and Wellbutrin to keep me "happy". The thing is, I HATE PHARMACY MEDS! I'm not knocking them, alot of people depend on theses meds, but for me, as I type this, feel just well, I feel fucked up, not in a good way. The zanax makes me feel stupid, the somas make me feel drunk, the wellbutrin just sucks. If I was just able to use my "real medication" none of these feelings would be there, its taking me 25 minutes to write this because I cant freaking spell right now. So they'd rather put me on 3 meds that makle me feel just completly out of it instead of using my Cannabis which helps all my issues with no side effects other than wanting to eat something yummy. Like I said, I'm not knocking anybody for using these meds in anyway, they can be extremly helpful to many people, just not me. If anyone out there is in, or has been in this situation please let me know what has worked for you, I dont like these medications. The only doctor med I take regularly is Topamax to help the migraines not be so often. Ugh, this just reallly sucks. Sorry for another rant, but I dont have alot of people to talk to so I sometimes just vent it out here. |

I'm gradually getting off my prescription meds by using MMJ, which works noticeably better than the drugs do. I'll be thinking about you and wish you good luck. |

Thanks for the good wishes, then even crappier thing is, I'm only 28 but have a long family history of depression, my mother has clinical depression, I've been diagnosed with sever social anxiety disorder, chronic migraines, and have had horrid sleep paterns since the age of about 12. All these what I call "drugs" suck, the side effect are sometimes even worse than the original ailment. oops, soory I guess I kinda said that already. But what can you expect, the doc has me on strong anti-anxiety meds and beefy muscle relaxers at the same time. I'm surprised I can even type right now. The ONLY plus is the soma is actually kind of helping my back, but a couple good hoots of some hash would be much more effective. I quit drinking 2 years ago, the somas are almost identical to being drunk, I DO NOT LIKE THAT. Oh, to top it off, I was in so much pain that my son couldnt even get to school today cuz I couldnt drive! Seriously, how f'd up is that. |

I apparently unknowingly went through a total of 4 extra strength viccoden, 3 or 4 zanax, and 4 somas on friday evening. I have no idea why or how. I dont not eat handfulls of pills. I took the normal dose and watched tv, then woke up on my bathroom floor at midnight with pill bottles. That is really scary. I've gotten rid of ALL of them, no way in hell will I even have the potential of having this happen again. I'm just now coming out of whatever haze I was in, yesterday was horrid too, I was a total dick to everyone. I can only think that I sleptwalked my way to the medicine cabinet? Has anyone else had an incident like this? And yes my doctor has been told everything as well. |

I was going to be given xanax for anxiety, I have soma, I have motrin, I have benedryl and tylenol pm Only thing is, cannabis works for my anxiety and my insomnia. The xanax I've seen makes people worse off than they were before they started taking it. Ive seen it screw up one of my closest friends. Tylenol and benedryl dont work, I take them at 9 and at 11 11:30 why am I still awake. The next morning when I have to wake up for work I feel like crap because they must have kicked in while I was actually asleep, Then I have to drive with that in my system. I take my cann. med before bed and I sleep like a baby, I take my cann meds when I get anxiety and start crying and losing my mind from it and I calm down like It never happened. I also only take my meds when Im at home. I too dont like pills. I wish they would make this legal already! |

The Xanax made me forget everything and the Soma's had that drunk effect on me as well. What is a DOT test? Sorry if it is common, I just haven't heard of it! The DOT is Department of transportation drug screen, funny that the doctor prescribed meds just about sent me to the hospital and made me act like a blackedout drunken fool when the medicine that truly works for me, cannabis, is the "drug" that drug tests test for. I believe I am much safer smoking a small bowl at night than having what happen to me happen again. Those meds Soma, Zanax, Vicoden, can kill you, I wish cannabis was accepted as those other "effective drugs". |

Mooniegoogoo, be careful stoping the xanax if youve been on it for more than a few weeks. Tapering off is recommened, as withdrawl can be unpleasent.
