so i tought id help the kids in africa and get a computer for myself in the process. well my olpc computer came yesterday and its totally bunk. i got totally bait and swicthed by the OLPC people. the one the say they are going to send you is supposed to have a hand crank or a pull cord to power it, its not supposed to have to be plugged into the wall 24/7 to charge the batter.. well what did i get? a piece of shit laptop with a wall wart and no hand crank or pull cord. i bought the computer because i wanted to be able to use it ANYWHERE with the pull cord or hand crank, i dont want to be tied to the wall like i am with all my other laptops. so fucking lame. i feel like i got bait and switched. dont support these scammers.

It is kinda lame that when you read about the prgoram they tell you about how the crank ended up not working so they switched to the cord and it should give a 10:1 power ratio (1 min cranking = 10 min charge)

They dont mention that that is only going w the laptop to the child and not to you. Dick move.

But WT, you still did a good thing. They gave you a POS but still, some kid somewhere is going to get a tool, so you gave that kid something they will never, ever forget.

So don't you forget that either.

And I still say take it to Starbucks and pretend to be writing a script on that tiny lil green thing. It will at least make me laugh if no one else!

for the price that's hard to believe, but I totally get why yer pissed.

Weedtracker, weedtracker, you should have came to me,. I would have said, "Don't support that shit!" And you know I would have too. I'm sure most of you all know, I don't support any of these wack ass programs... The reason is, somebody has got to make money off of it. Out of the 100% percent of money you donate, 85-90% goes to pay bills, the other 10-15% actually towards the actual charity you signed up for... The Red Cross is also the same. I'm not a religious guy, but when it comes to giving and helping, always give to the church and/or Salvation Army. The reason being, it's the other way around, 10-15% goes towards paying peoples wages and the other 85-90% goes toward the actual charity and that's because all of those people are actually donating their own time and volunteering, they know they are not getting paid and are doing it out of the goodness of their heart... And that's what it's all about right there. Unlike all of these other functions, it's a scam for strictly business and money. And most of you know how I feel about helping Africa. Fuck them, they had all the help and good people there to do it too. But they wanted the Brits out of their land and Africa all back to themselves, and now look them... South Africa, shithole nation... Do you think England cares anymore? Nope. The Africans fucked themselves up... Help Americans and our own American children. Lets think about our own first...

Oh well, sorry you got a bunk ass computer, but I'm sure a lesson was learned, and hope it was worth it. Remember, 'Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.'
