Rep Power: 727 | Acts of kindness So as I sit here and enjoy my bowl of chocolate (hash) and (dabney) blueberry(s) I reflect upon a wonderful act of kindness I witnessed tonight. I was at the grocery store on the check out line and the person right in front of me was getting checked out. The cashier, as he is swiping the last of her items which is several boxes of juice packs, notices that the bottom of one is wet. He takes a moment and checks the whole box and informs the woman that one or more of the juice packs had broken, and he asks the girl bagging the items to grab another box for the woman. The woman for a moment tries to dispute the cashier, bet he shows her that it is a leak in the box. I was truly astonished by this act. It is not often someone will actually notice that and stop to do something about it. I know that this is part of the cashiers job, but how often does this actually happen. In fact the leak, at the time was rather small, and he was the first person to notice, I very probably would have not even noticed, or taken the time to care about the leak. When I was being checked out I made sure to let that gentleman know that what he had done was very nice. He exclaimed to me that it was "just part of his job". I proceeded to tell him I do not always expect people to do their jobs to its fullest. He then, with a big grin on his face, looked me right in the eye and said "well, I love my job". I told him he was a lucky man to have a job he enjoyed so much. A little piece of my faith in the human race was restored. I walked out of the super market with a grin from ear to ear on my face. That might have been the nicest trip to a grocery store ever. |

That was what we once called customer service. Taking care of those who chose to spend their hard earned money at your business because you cared about them, enough to insure they recieved the very best quality available. Some of learned that it was less about the paycheck and more about making a customer much more than that, but a friend. Something lacking too often in the big chain stores. |

Opps there go the coyotes again.... Those who care to succeed will learn from this post and treat customers like family. Those who care about the $'s will sell to too many people to know even one customer and I pity their loss. Tis those who take pride in doing what is right and just who gain happiness. | |

We do need to let people know that we appreciate what they do. Adam, I appreciate you. You always have a smile for me and words of encouragement. Thank you! |

Rep Power: 112110 | Re: Acts of kindness Some of you know I recently began taking care of my elderly father... Saturday I had to take him into the emergency room, and he was admitted to the hosp..... His health is poor, I will be surprised if we get to spend Christmas together (but, he HAS surprised me many times before...) Today, I walked into his room in the hospital, to find his nurse giving him a hug.... she had just adjusted his IV, and quickly bent down and just gave him a little hug... A small gesture. He may not have really even known that she did it... She did not know I was even in the hospital... She just cared enough to give him that little human touch. May not have done much for him, but I almost broke down.... It was such a comfort to me to know that when I left him there, he was with people who still knew how to care. Kinda restored a little of my faith in folks as well... Before I logged on to the computer tonite, I wrote two letters... One to the Director of Nursing at the hospital, the other to the Chief of Staff of the hospital... I hope I was able to convey to them the comfort and tenderness I saw in her care for my father. That, coupled with her obvious professionalism, and skill needs to be noted, and celebrated. |

| Re: Acts of kindness Stanley, your story is so sweet, i'm glad that your dad is in a good place right now......... Cowboy, it nice to see people being kind....you don't see that too much anymore...there's a great movie (i think it's called pass it forward or something like that) that shows just how one persons act of kindness can effect so many others.......my 6 year old just got an award at school yesterday (he thought it was gonna be an excellent reader award....) when he got the award it said "for being a caring student", i couldn't have been more proud of him, it meant more than any academic award he could have gotten ;) |
