Smile the resurgence of hope

HOPE UNLIMITED'S primary purpose: To improve the lives of people living with illness on a local level. Four Major Functions of the group: advocacy, outreach, education, support/friendship
The Creation of Community
The creation of community is an aspect of paramount concern to those disenfranchised by illness. We enlist a collective council responsible for initiating ideas and responding to internal problems. During our weekly support meetings participants join together to find much needed emotional and social support. Sick and dying people often face discrimination, intolerance and arrest. Problem solving, attention to the personal, empowerment, consciousness and awareness are among the gifts that we are called upon to share.

That sounds like something every state should have.
Good job. Wish there was something I could do from here.

Lori Saldaņa Recognized for her Work on Medical Cannabis Legislation

California Assemblymember Lori Saldaņa from San Diego's 76th District attended Hope Unlimited's June 5th meeting. She came to talk about the bills she has been working on in Sacramento. Assembly Bill 2279, which would protect legal medical marijuana patients from losing jobs due to testing positive for THC in employment drug tests, and AB 2743, a measure she introduced which declared state, county, city, and local law enforcement shall not assist with federal raids on medical marijuana facilities....

The Value of Hope Unlimited MMJ San Diego
Hope support groups provide the kind of sharing and caring that is crucial for a lifetime of wellness. Hope groups:

* Give you the opportunity to reach out to others and benefit from the experience of those who have "been there."
* Motivate you to follow your treatment plan.
* Help you understand that your illness does not define who you are.
* Help you rediscover strengths and humor you may have thought you had lost.
* Provide a forum for mutual acceptance, understanding and self-discovery.

Supreme court refuses san diego's case!

http://hopeisunlimited.blogspot.com/

Graham Boyd, director of the ACLU's Drug Reform Law Project, said today's order "marks a significant victory for medical marijuana patients and their advocates nationwide." It dispels any remaining doubts that the state laws are valid, he said, and it "leaves ample room for states to move forward . . . with independent medical marijuana policies."

Hope Report 5/19/09 - Medical Marijuana Law Stands Supreme Test

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gW4NfKOwt2o

US Supreme Court decision refusing to hear San Diego County's appeal. The County had already been told by two lower courts that there challenge to Proposition 215 was without merit. Aaron looks back at the opposition to the lawsuit when it was filed. Dion Markgraaf of Americans for Safe Access, and Barbara Mackenzie of Shelter from the Storm speak against this now losing lawsuit before it begins. Aaron also goes inside the battle surrounding the recent decision and highlights Rudy Reyes' contributions fighting at the County level for San Diego patient's rights. President Barack Obama's views are highlighted for the County Supervisors by Mr Reyes.
