Rep Power: 5692 | Great idea!!! Does your Coop meet the members donations dollar for dollar? That would be very very compassionate, and it would be a way to be as generous as your membership. Or lower prices by 50% for meds purchased with dontions. Either way you will be helping those who need help the most. I bet if you check your books and see what is donated - you may find that you can afford to do this. What happens if all the donations fall short of helping all the needy? clinton |

MJ is a great medicine. I was just speculating on how you may increase interested donors who will give to the poor. PBS uses the technique during their fund raisers. Matching a donation, either by other donors or the coop, is a working method to increase donations. I am not a rich man, but I am willing to send money donations (as able) to your coop, if you will somehow match the amount. Perhaps others here will take this challenge. Yes the economy sucks - it sucks worse if you are sick and old, disabled or unemployed. Anyone want to try this idea? clinton

When I got my card to grow in Oregon, I build grow-rooms larger than my own needs. I was using only a small part of the harvest. Since it is not legal to sell it, even to patients - I decided to sign up as many patients as I could support. That worked a while, then the laws changed to limit patients to a total of 4 per grower I still had large surplus, even with 4 of us getting all we needed. Then my health took a turn downward - I started to think about one grow per year and dropping my patients. I was ill and burned out. I was ready to drop everyone, but my sweet wife, encouraged me to keep growing for the community. She and I know how ill they are. We are all very ill. I have the sickest patients of any grower I know. They actually have more comfortable lives with cannabis. My patients and I decided to share all legal costs and to give away surplus to the rest of the community without a grower - we give it all for free. I started a web site to organize the community and teach growing and compassion. I built it and they came. Now I have one of the sweetest sites on the net. We are about 200 now and we help every day. We have private forums where OMMP members may request help of many kinds. The medicine requests have been being filled within minutes of posting the request. It is humbling, to see others take up my vision to help the needy, in many ways not just with medicine. We pray for each other and try to teach members how to grow. I have taught very many - Giving them medicine to hold them over till they could harvest. I see them paying forward the love that was poured out on them by strangers. Soon I saw an explosion of care and love. When we can we set new card holders up with equipment. I keep loaner stuff. I am only alive now because someone took time to see me in need and to love me back to health. I owe a great debt to the world and God - that I repay everyday by helping others to my maximum ability. I have discovered that it takes a loving community to do the maximum good for the oppressed, impoverished, the sick and dying. We help with hospice frequently. Some members stock pile meds with trusted people in various locations - the one who donated the supply - tells others with the MMJ to help specific people who request help. This way donors can remain anonymous if the wish. I am a trained therapist. We try to help the members in every area of their lives they have problems and want help. The needy have so many needs. We do what we can to help them. But we are just a few hundred where there are thousand who need what we give freely. My hope is to encourage others in MMJ states to start and stay compassionate. That way we will join arms and fight for human rights. clinton:partysmile::partysmile::partysmile: I am happy to see that Hope Unlimited has my vision. I am not alone.

Rep Power: 27688 | Such programs, such meetings as described above, can form the kernel of an MMJ community that can:
In the late 90s CHAMP (Cannabis Helping Alleviate Medical Problems) in San Francisco was dedicated to providing such services. At the time it was very hard with me, and my gratitude for CHAMPs kindnesses is with me still. It was they who inspired me to promote compassionate services among MMJ providers. "Paying it forward", as good Clinton put it. So, as (self-appointed) MMJ patient advocate, I am truly tickled by HopeUnlimited's program here and the philosophy behind it. Kudos, HopeUnlimited! |

They deal with primarily very ill patients, and provide meds either gratis or very low cost (they have a garden). I feel it would be very beneficial for all of these groups to network. The assistance they can provide for each other would be invaluable. Like someone said earlier, these organizations can provide the basis of a true MMJ community, complete with support programs for patients that in financial hardship. Good on ya, Aaron. Keep it up. We need more things like this in our community. It certainly shows the larger community that we are serious, and not just a bunch of stoners...... Peace and One Love, sv |

WAMM is the heartbeat of MMJ. Tend to speak of my direct experience, and alas I've never been, though I'm privileged to have met Valerie and Michael. AND I'm not sure we're allowed to mention WAMM here on HopeUnlimited's forum. WAMM has a forum on WT now, I am pleased to note. Well, I haven't had an infraction in awhile, and life is for breaking rules for the right reasons. WAMM is a "right reason", just like HopeUnlimited's program here. My apologies to the hapless WT admin who has to write us up though. And my great respects again to HopeUnlimited.
