Rep Power: 556076 | I had 3 minor surgeries on my back over the spring. I know they 'dug in' about 2 inches deep to scoop out my tissue and the final surgery left a 3 inch cut across my shoulder blade. I guess it's pretty much healed at this point but it feels like I have a thorn in my back when I moved around sometimes, especially when I turn in my sleep. Anyone have this happen after surgery? Does it just take that long for the scar tissue to be okay? It's not a huge deal to me. Huge as in I'm not willing to pay a few more hundred dollars to ask my doctor about this. I tried looking this up elsewhere but didn't have much luck. |

Rep Power: 1994 | Re: Scar Tissue/Pain After Surgery Yes, yes, yes. I absolutely relate to your experience. I have sensitivities at my scar site and it's been since 06. My suture material is just starting to absorb at the end--it frays, and leaves these little red wounds that scab up and go away over and over again. I hope it doesn't bother you too much and gets better soon. |

I'm not a doctor, but I don't think you should be feeling a thorn in your back. I hope you can have someone look at it. Healing Hugs :001_wub:

Rep Power: 82323 | Re: Scar Tissue/Pain After Surgery Glad to hear you've healed from all this surgery, MRT! I'm no expert on these things, and have never had such deep surgery, but I have read up on the healing process over the years. It sounds to me like at least on that last surgery they had to cut through some muscle tissue? When that grows back together, IIRC, it's like a seam, like sewing a tear in fabric. The body builds up the seam a bit more than was there before as protection. Unfortunately, this extra tissue can make the area less flexible, so you feel the pull when you move the shoulder in your sleep. I believe that over time, as you use the shoulder in every day activities, the body will smooth out the seam, and you will feel it less. Perhaps you could try some stretching exercises just before bed to loosen up that area, and get some relief in the short term? |

I just thought it was a bit weird. Reminded me of that Seinfeld episode where Kramer accidentally drops some Junior Mint candy into a patient's body during surgery. Got a little too high last night and started thinking of funny explanations to this pain :) "Honey, look at my scar for me. Is there something in there? Can you feel something? You can't? I feel something, I swear I have something stuck in my back. Get a flashlight and see if you can see something? No?" Thanks for the help guys :)

Rep Power: 1994 | Re: Scar Tissue/Pain After Surgery I will get better over time. The only reason I knew what was going on with my '06 surgery site is because I went through it and had the same experiences in my battle with terminal cancer in '96 where I took on a very serious thoracic surgery. I'll pray for ya. |

Rep Power: 32563 | Re: Scar Tissue/Pain After Surgery Ultasound was used to breakup scar tissue. But simple circular deep rubs on it for months will break it up faster. forgot to add: this is very uncomfortable. ultra isnt at all. Im talking for internal, not the outside that needs to be rough to seal. homedics shiatzu back massager will be your guy if yours is out:) Last edited by Bodhisativa; 06-20-2009 at 10:24 AM.. |
