Since my husband's stroke (12/06) left him with rt. side issues we have been using cannabudder as a topical lotion. I have been massaging it into his fingers & hand, and have seen great results. He never got a claw-hand, and when he went in for checkups the first year, the Doctor did not believe that he was regaining some movement. He has been medicating since day 1 of his stroke, with edibles & bud. We told the Doc what was up and he is all for alternative meds...
Now I am trying to formulate a recipe using cocoa butter in place of the dairy butter to make the cream...
Has anyone else tried this??

I've been pretty simple in my uses so far. I really like tossing it in some whole

wheat organic pasta with some basil and garlic. I also like a little on my

baked potatoe and other things that are tasty with butter.

I am going for a topical application with transdermal absorption, instead of only ingesting the medicine..... I was just trying to figure out WHAT to use with the cocoa butter, whether it is dried close-trim, or newly trimmed fan-leaves...

Hiya Mom! Hope you and your family are well and getting weller! you are doing a great thing with your cocoa butter! I use this too but with 3x clarified ghee, i.e., butter. However I *really* filter it too. (Mine isn't like others), I'd love to compare the 2 with each other though as I've been using MMJ transdermally for months now and recommend any budder or oil with enough THC that it makes your patient numb transdermally, but...it's that PLUS the massage that will do the trick. You are helping your husband heal with your touch alone!! The MMJ is an added bonus, we have had the same results post brain surgery (a LOT of the effects are similar), the massage with the added MMJ is a great pain killer/anti-spasmodic. Good for you! I'd go with the dried close trim Indica, the stronger the better. (Short form)

I agree with Ms. Mab, the Gee tends to be much more efficient(sp?) Just boil and keep scooping off the junk that bubbles at the top, then make your butter the same way as usual.
Got to agree again, the human touch is a much overlooked thing sometimes. Wish you and your husband all the best

Thank you so much for the info. It would be great to meet you one of these days... You already know my offspring from over @ KindMeds... It was he who started me in the edibles so that we could help his dad after the stroke, and when he came home it was 'what do we do now?' Hence, the budder-rub. I look forward to talking with you.

Almostoverit - Thanks so much, you are so right about the human touch, it's almost as rare as real compassion! May I add this though; boiling is not the best way to clarify (actually it's the worst, far too much effort & thc loss!), and that's all I can say here but I really recommend NEVER boiling any transdermal or dairy thc/mmj goodies! I get great results lower than that.
I also give a killer backrub. :)

I can't wait to get started on the canna-infused cocoa butter. It will be warming up soon, and cocoa butter doesn't go bad from too much heat.

The human touch is the most important part, I agree. I have been doing that since Day 1 and thank goodness for my OCD, cause I can fixate on the part of his body that needs the spark, and it works! He loves when I stretch his fingers while working the Budder into the joints. Only time will tell!

We will have to get together; but between work & hubby there is never enuf time.. Ah well.

I picked up some food-grade pure cocoa butter and first I might try 100%depending on how much heat it takes to liquify. Since I don't have a degree in chemistry, LOL, I plan on playing with it, like we did with our budder...
Who knows what will come of it!!? The challenge is half the fun!

The cocoa butter is food-grade, not food. This application is for use on you, not in you!!! Cocoa butter on its own is quite yucky.

I've had good luck with coconut oil as a topical base (Parachute brand is what I've used). It's semi-solid (firm) at room temps and doesn't go rancid quickly. I'd like to see how the cocoa butter works out for you though.

Now I need to get some shea butter to experiment with.

Yes, you can. Since we started using it as a massage cream, my husbands hand started tingling after the first use... Then, within 3 weeks he started moving his thumb. Now I don't know how, but it seems to be finding its way up to his brain...where apparently the impulses are finding other routes to tell his fingers to wake up! Now, 18 months after his stroke, we have movement in all fingers, AND he can lift his forearm up enough to turn off the light switch!! Its like a rewiring job , I guess!

I throw about tablespoon & a half on a bowl of oatmeal with brown sugar and milk and about an hour later about 3 rips and I'm there for about 6 + hours -intense body euphoria and no pain at all. About 3 hours into it I get the munchies, helps my appatite cause I'm really not into food so this was my 1st budder and it came out pretty good, I actually impressed myself! The taste is just like the edibales at the coop's ( the overall flavor) so that's my limited experience wit it, got it? Peace & everything ya know

Mom's Brownies, please keep us posted about this cocoa butter ratio, I am excited for you. Have you ever cooked your infusion to where you get instant transdermal numbness? I find that works best and immediately upon sciatica and my patients spinal/headache/spasms etc. Topical ROCKS!! This is why I really applaud your using food grade (freezes well too, try a frozen stick of it on a spasm= instant spasm stop) cocoa butter for your base.

I wouldn't take a mouthful of canna-cocoa butter, but I'll gleefully watch !! LOL, when I ran a Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory back in the day (geez I feel OLD) they used to tease the newbs with the 100% PURE Chocolate (read NO sugar at all, baking chocolate, but the smell was to die for) into eating just one pastille, they always gagged on it! LOL, the things some cooks do, it's scary~

But I am an and would never ever do that!!

We don't quite have it figured out, but that's half the fun!! As far as numbness, we have gotten that result from the newest batch o' budder.
The instant relief after application to my achy 'cashier' hands has given me more ideas.... I will keep you updated!
