Rep Power: 306 | Has anybody Fainted after smoking? I've been having a problem where I've fainted a couple of minutes after smoking, it's happened 3 times in the past four years always around September. I smoke, then I seem to get nervous, then warm and I tried drinking a beer or water. I start getting dizzy, then it's lights out. All the times I tried to get up and within seconds, lights out again. I've found that laying down for 5-10 minutes seems to make me coherent again. Been to doctors, had ekg's and echo cardiogram's. They haven't found anything wrong with my heart. A couple doctors say that I might have Vaso-Vagal, anybody hear of that? I smoke a couple times a week and I haven't had any problems before and after the episodes. Anyone else having these sort of problems, I'd like to hear from you. |

Rep Power: 283 | Re: Has anybody Fainted after smoking? My boy had this issue. One day he comes over and I notice he has a scar under his eye. So I inquire as to it's origin, turns out he passed out after a bong toke. He says he was alone smoking, took a huge rip and woke up to find his glasses had broken and cut his face when he hit the ground. I totally worry that's gonna happen at an inopportune moment for me. I've gotten really light headed, but never passed out. Smoke safe! |

Rep Power: 36928 | Re: Has anybody Fainted after smoking? Assuming there are no other medical issues, I believe strength, concentration and delivery method are the key issues. Some indicas can kick butt, so maybe something a little lighter? It has happened to me, and it was overwhelming. Then again there's tolerance. Some folks can smoke a whole field of bud and keep dancing. Others can't handle it. I just try to smoke enough to help me out without slipping into the Cheech and Chong mode. |

Rep Power: 10 | Re: Has anybody Fainted after smoking? Yeah that shits a trip, you smoke a fatty and then like a few minutes after, LIGHTS OUT!! DAMN WHAT HAPPENED.....?? I went to the doctor once and he told me that when I start to fell really dizzy and light head the best thing i can do is either lay down or shit back and breathe deeply , slowly and smoothly, from the stomach not the chest. He told me that i was not paying attention to my breathing and that i was giving less oxygen to my brain causing me to get headed and pass out. CRAZY, huh? -DaHerbs |

Rep Power: 10 | Re: Has anybody Fainted after smoking? first of all do not panic its not the marijuana that made you faint. remember to breath before every hit. fainting is simply lack of oxygen to the brain, but don't breath to fast just nice and easy. ive been there right after smoking your thoughts are racing especially if your feeling light headed just remember to breath the last time you fainted can be the last time you faint after smoking THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS BREATHING MAKE SURE TO BREATH WELL I HAVE A FEELING YOU WON'T BE FAINTING ANYMORE ps hyper ventilating is the number one reason people faint just breath easy |

Rep Power: 181 | Re: Has anybody Fainted after smoking? Ive gotten to the point where momentarily, the room is spinning, etc. but have never actually fainted, which would be very scary indeed. We used to refer to this as "rushes" or getting a "head rush"..literally briefly feeling like your about to pass out. Perhaps your holding the smoke in too long. This can cause hyperventilation and depending on the strength of the medicine, cause you to faint. It has been recommended by a man much wiser than I that holding the smoke after the inhale does not increase the effect. I wish you well in your search for the solution to your issue. Peace~ l.z. |

Rep Power: 306 | Re: Has anybody Fainted after smoking? Thanks everbody for your replies. I don't hold it in when medicating, I breathe normal when smoking. I'm thinking the sativa's are giving me a little anxiety, so I'm gonna try to stick to indica's. Hopefully it's not MM, it's one of the few things that helps with my insomnia and bad back. It's kinda scary though, I don't want to faint and never wake up. |

Rep Power: 181 | Re: Has anybody Fainted after smoking? Good call, some sativas may produce anxiety, which in some part may be related to your fainting issue. While far from an expert, I don't believe sativas are recommended for insomia. If you must have a daytime med, perhaps you can check with your coop of choice and they can recommend a strain that is not quite as racey/intense. I enjoyed a sativa several months ago called Lemon Diesel. (at least I think that was the name) and it was really mellow and I was certainly fully functional after medicating with it. I really enjoyed it and it produced zero anxiety. I can only describe the effect as clean and uplifting. Some might label this effect weak, which it wasn't at all. I will usually donate for a gram only in case a particular strain doesn't work for me. Sorry if I've stated the obvious. Hope this helps. Again, good luck in your search and remember to breath. l.z. |

My husband was diagnosed with vasovagal as well as my mother. They seem to give that diagnoses when they have tested you for everything and they find nothing. They find that as long as they stay hydrated, stay away from things that dehydrate (caffeine, alcohol) and don't get up too quickly, they are fine. Make sure you are drinking enough fluids; stay hydrated. Also, don't stand up right after you take a hit or don't stand while you are smoking! Anxiety or post traumatic stress disorder (knowing you have fainted in the past) can also make you start hyperventilating without even realizing it. Before you take a hit, maybe say to yourself that you are healthy and safe....and believe it. If you got all of the major tests done and you are fine, the fainting could be much more simple than you think. :)

Rep Power: 280 | Re: Has anybody Fainted after smoking? I've fainted once...infact I think I was actually having some kind of mini-stroke as I felt incredibly ill as well and was having heart problems. And I don't mean to be disgusting but one time I had too much ice in my bong and the hit was so cold my lungs felt like crap and I upchucked. |

They make up a name when they can't find anything wrong with you. My Dr.'s recommended all what you have said about hydration, caffine & alcohol. I don't think it's MM because I've drank coffee at 9am and then around 11am I'll start getting anxiety for no reason all. I don't hyperventilate, but if I start feeling funny, knowing that I've fainted in the past gives me more anxiety. Dr.'s gave me some Xanax to take, seems to be working. Thanks for the info. Rep Power: 4202 | Re: Has anybody Fainted after smoking? Only time I've seen that was back in 2002 - Dr. Jay and I were up at Marc Emeries on a MMJ confrance thingy and 'someone' broght him the frist TW he ever had - the fool took 3 huge hits. Then complained that he was DOSED, like it was so potant ... that it couldn't be just weed ... This was very funny because durning that whole 3 toak time - "someone" kept telling him to go easy if he's not used to that potant of bud (the BC crap he had out there was like B grade and that is being kind) ... anyway he went and laid down for a while - so I guess that isn't fainting ... funny story though about the 'Prince of Pot' meets the Ragity Man - the walking dude - chuckle ... curse you 'evil one' you got him too high ... I really felt for you after you posted!!! I certainly hope that the Xanax continues to do the trick. Xanax was VERY helpful to me a few years back when I was getting out-of-the-blue anxiety like you are describing. Good luck and here's to no more fainting!!
