Hey WT family,
Lately when I've been heavily medicating, I end up coughing up the normal black tar dots. But recently I have been coughing up slimy red flem when I cough really hard.
It's not dark red like blood but its red enough to get me worried. I have a vape but I need to know if this is normal?

start vaping! cut back on smoke and quit butane!!

also get some strong oregano oil from a health foods store and drop it into your throat it makes u cough up bad stuff!

Not normal! Seek medical attention. Have you tried edibles? Much easier on throat & lungs.

Truthfully I haven't been to my doctor in years, as I don't have insurance any more.
Im going to definatly take a break off smoking to see if it clears up, but it always happens after heavy sessions.
I like edibles but I find it to be much more expensive to get medicated off edibles.
Right now my method of smoke is a green label RooR with a 25w hakko.
I tend to get the red flem at least once a day.

I have the black tar but not the red flem..
I would try vaping for a few weeks only, and giving your lungs a break. I find vaping helps clear out some of that extra tar and is easier on the lungs.
If you're still experiencing it after that, or if it starts to get worse, I would definitely see a doctor as none of us on here, are doctors (well, I don't think so atleast).

No Kidding - this is NOT a great place to look for medical advice - It is NEVER OK or "normal" to cough "red flem" (the red part of the phlegm is BLOOD!, which works much better inside you than outside). Get thee to an ER - they cannot turn you away, and can at the very least treat the symptoms and tell you if this needs further attention - Do it right now - this is from a survivior

I coughed up some red phlegm the other day & was worried til I remembered I had just eaten a bag of Flamin' Hot Cheetos!

i switched to vaping because of these issues. Everyday smokers should clean there equip
quite often and save for a volcano to save there lungs. A while back I had the flu and still smoked out my bong and only made it worse by damaging my throat and spitting up bloody phlegm.

In my opinion you shouldnt be coughing up anything. Ive been a heavy smoker for a good 10 years now and the only thing i cough up is dark brown phlegm in the morning because my mouth was to dry. Keep in mind though that i only smoke marijuana. NO cigs for me, tried it once when i was little and couldnt get past the burning of my throat. I know regular smoker tht cough up some black specs every now and again but RED is definately not good. Seek some help.

Thanks for all the info guys. I've switched to using Da Buddha Vaporizer and edibles. I've already noticed a difference.

Thats exactly what happened to me. Do you still hack up the reds after switching to vape?

everybodies lungs are different. some people can smoke for 10 yrs and not have any problems. others can't even be in a smokey room. I have coughed up red specs before (usually when you have some kind of virus or infection goin on) don't be fooled...just because its dark red doesn't mean it's not blood it just means that its dry blood. vaping should cut back on the amount of "phlegm" but its going to take time for your lungs to heal from the years of smoking. complete cessation would be better for your respiratory system so... start eating it dude...

Hey maybe you should go get tested for tuberculosis as coughing up blood is a symptom of that and there are many clinics that test for free. I just got tested today because I'm about to start a new job that requires that test and the X-ray Tech at the clinic is the one that told me that coughing up blood is a symptom. Dude get to the doctor you're health is important!!! Hope you're alright though but just to be safe GO!
