Black/purple circles under eyes, suggestions anyone?

ANyone else have the problem of those black circles under your eyes?

Im sure many mmj patients endure plenty of stresses , this is why we got the papers in the first place right? SO im guessing its not that uncommon to have to deal with the purple/black circles under the eyes from pain , lack of sleep , ect.ect.

I notice that If I smoke more weed as the day progreses , Usually, the circles get worse as I smoke, any one else notice this?

also for example If I get up in the morning , many times the purple is not that bad, but as soon as I light up, of course the eyes get red, but The circles get noticeably darker and sometimes larger.

I have little to suggest that helps this, Only a change in diet seems to help somewhat.

anyone else have to deal with this or have any suggetions to deal with the black circles?

thanks!

Re: Black/purple circles under eyes, suggestions anyone?

The dark circles under your eyes are likely due to blood vessel dilation--the same reason the whites of your eyes become bloodshot after smoking.

To combat this, there is always the old standby--cool cucumbers or cool, wet teabags on the eyes for fifteen minutes. (Use regular tea bags, not herbal.) Although, admittedly, this remedy is not always feasible as it limits activity and, frankly, looks ridiculous.

Be certain to drink plenty of water. Dehydration often causes dark circles under the eyes. And smoking marijuana often causes dehydration. Stay hydrated.

And last but not least, there are concealer creams. Though you can only purchase it at department stores, Clinique's Quick Corrector works quite well. Physician's Formula concealers are available at drug stores, and they also work well.

(By the way, "stress" is not a condition that allows for medical marijuana and is not why "we got the papers in the first place." Of course, I can only speak for myself and the legitimate patients I know.)

To add to this, you could try something like Preperation H. Obviously you want to be careful, but i've heard of people using this to get rid of the bags under their eyes. Since it constricts skin and blood vessels id imagine it would work.

How've you been sleeping? I get really dark circles from lack of sleep, I've heard the cucumber thing does work. But I thought the Prep H thing was only for wrinkles.

Not every day do you get to bring up Preparation H and a cucumber in the same post...

Re: Black/purple circles under eyes, suggestions anyone?

in response to Zelig, since all thats going on , not hardly at all , I am a zombie practicly. sleep doesnt exist anymore,

in response to ulalume as far as stress. the comment was made and intended that whatever ails you in the first place to get your papers , will most likely also cause you stress, which makes circles potentailly all the more worse for us mmj users. personally, for me, my reasons are because I am physicly disabled for life due to injury. I hope thats legitimate in your book.

thanks to everyone for the ideas, I dont know if I will try the prep h lol, I think thats a little too risky for me , if anyone else trys it, please post.

yeah the raw meat, the tea bags,& cucumbers on the eyes, hydration I wasnt aware of , maybe thats alot to do with it. I try to drink half a gallon realisticly of water a day and about the same in fruit juices that have no preservatives.

I think I will ask my mmj dr , who is also a gen phys and see what she says, I will post her reply.,

thnx agan!

Re: Black/purple circles under eyes, suggestions anyone?

Have been a licensed esthetician for many years. Here's the real deal. Many things can cause circles under the eyes. Lack of sleep, diet, kidney disease, heredity, allergies, etc. The tea bags cool are good especially chamomile, also cucumber slices, and so are raw potatoe slices. The odds are with all the recent winds that it may be allergies. Watch the weather and see how you respond when the barometer makes radical changes. Concealer will work as will sunglasses. However it is important to make sure it isn't anything serious healthwise. A general type blood test will confirm any flaws in your system that your primary doctor can order or do.

Re: Black/purple circles under eyes, suggestions anyone?

I used to have dark bags under my eyes when i was into drugs. I think it was mostly because i wasnt eating right. Diet may have something to do with it. The dark circles seemed to go away after i started smoking more, which helped me eat more. But i've been losing weight lately and noticed they are coming back. Needa Eat!!

Re: Black/purple circles under eyes, suggestions anyone?

Are you sure the "bags" aren't just a practical joke? Like perhaps someone took your binoculars and dipped them in ink and then when you were peeping out the window at those girls, you got the "black eyes," which you refer to as bags?

Just a possibility.

The whole tea-bag thing does not work. I was tea-bagging the other day and it didn't help the circles at all. Actually it made it worse.

Also- if the bags are purple, that's an indication that it's an indica based bag.

Re: Black/purple circles under eyes, suggestions anyone?

You are forgetting the golden rules:

Yellow teeth? Brown tie.

Purple circles? Green tie.

You'll still want to go with dark pants and shoes to augment the look.

If you got both the yellow teeth and dark circles, orange tie.

In addition to an iron deficiency, you may have a problem with either your sinuses or nasal passages. Are you taking any antihistamines? Whenever I take antihistamines, they cause ugly eyes!

Purple circles? Green tie.

You'll still want to go with dark pants and shoes to augment the look.

If you got both the yellow teeth and dark circles, orange tie.

Great reply! That made my browse session worthwhile. In CCM theory (TCM, too), dark circles are primarily due to Kidney deficiency, but this refers primarily to the "energetic" kidney, and it can be a bit complicated to explain, so I won't. The Liver can also be involved, and lack of sleep fits both Kd and Lv patterns. I'm not sure if I have enough posts to PM yet, but if anyone would like a more detailed explanation... give it a shot.
