hey everyone,

was wondering if anyone has ever had an allerigic reaction to mmj. recently devloped a rash ....dermatologist thinks its because of an allergic reaction.
im trying to figure out what im allergic to.
anyone ever have an allergic reaction to mmj?
maybe it was a particular strain or medicine that had some kind of chemical in it???
have broken out all over body...just trying to figure out the cause??
im not sure if mmj could do this. i am a frequent user and have never had this problem before. any information from other patients would be appreciated.

I have a friend who got a red full body rash the few times he smoked. He seemed to think it was a alergic reaction. I would agree.

im no doctor, and i dont know your condition, but i get the same thing sometimes. especially when manicuring freshly chopped plants. i think it has something to do with the resin on the plant. i believe the cannabis plant manufactures resin to protect its seed bracts, during flowering, from hungry animals (it makes the plant taste bitter) and excessive sunlight and heat. contact on sensitive skin can create small, raised, and reddish bumps on the skin. however, its usually very small and localized and goes away rather quickly, usually in about a half an hour for me.

Sounds to me like you have hives.

Are you under stress?

Do you tolerate heat well?

If you have hives, do not let them progress. Go to a doctor. They usually prescribe Benadryl.

Could be anything. There are so many skin disease you can catch and so many conditions that'll just surface.

Probably hives.

I've had allergic reactions involving work and dealing with family, but never with Medical Marijuana.

A woman I work with (a lifetime marijuana user) has recently been breaking out in hives when she smokes. She has tried changing her diet, analyzing behavior etc. and the only sure thing is that when she smokes, a couple hours later she is in hives. She is going to take a week off and see what happens, Ill keep ya posted.

the dermatologist confirmed i am having an allergic reaction to something...what it is im not sure??
trying to figure out if its mmj or something else.
never had a reaction to mmj before...so wondering if some of the newer flowers i acquired set this off...could of had some pesticide on the flowers or fertilizer?
unfortunately i am going to quit smoking until i get this reaction under control...

One question that you need to ask yourself. Is there something in my life that is causing extreme stress?
I had a similar situation a few years back. I broke out in a rash after being prescribed antibiotics. The doctor thought it was an allergic reaction to the meds. We switched meds, no better. After seeing a dermatologist about it, he diagnosed it as a type of psoriasis that was brought on by the combination of stress and a poor diet. He got me a steroid cream and inside a week the rash was virtually gone.

it very well could be that the meds you got were not flushed properly and if chemical fertilizers were used you may be having an allergic reaction to that

thanks for the posts everyone. i really appreciate it. i did begin using some new meds recently, from a highly regarded co-op on weedtracker. i wont name names because i think the place does have good meds, ...
hopefully the stuff the derm gave me will get rid of this rash asap. i want to start medicating again asap but will wait to see if i can get rid of this rash first.

i, have had reactions to mmj,and as time goes by you will probably see more of this from chemicals introduced while growing.a lot has to do with the condition of the bodies immune system at the time of ingestion. it takes time to develop an allergy, the more often you come in contact with the allergen the worse the allergy gets.this is why you want proven organic .

I swear irony is lifes sense of humor. I smoke a lot of mmj. I have for years. I love the stuff. Funny thing is, when I started growing, I realized that brushing up against the leaves of the plant made me itchy and break out in hives. only the oils from the leaves though. Never from smoking and never from touching cured buds. I always thought this was funny.

ok - i never got a rash but some strains make me sneeze like mad. i mean a 5 or 10 minute sneezing fit! my doc says i am allergic to the smoke. i can live with it!
no help for your problem i know but ya CAN be allergic to mj!

yeah, thats a bitch. I show allergic reaction to less than top-shelf , cheap weed all the time. Makes me sneeze like a mofo. My eyes swell up and become extremely itchy. My naustrals also get swallen and makes it impossible to breath through the nose. That's why I have to smoke and or eat the high grade stuff all the time. Otherwise it aint worth the hassle. I think the reason is that , if it is less then high grade, more likely, it wasn't flushed right?

I get a rash everytime I trim or go into garden without shirt. It last about 2 or 3 days.

organic maybe the way to go for me. anyone recommend a co-op that has good organic top shelf mmj?? still am detoxing and waiting for rash to go away. i hoping its not mmj but something else. i have yet to determine cause.

i think there are several co-ops that advertise organic, the problem is you never know for sure without knowing the grower, when it comes to my health i do not like to gamble.

I just started having this problem after about a year of medicating. It's very unpleasant. The hives seem to bubble up from under the skin and also seem to travel around my body. Fortunately it's only occurred consuming medicine from outside my usual source, but it concerns me a lot. I imagine the problem must be with ways that certain meds are grown and the chems used.

I am interested to see how this thread develops. (even though I realize now it's pretty old)

Still searching for and answer to my problem, but 3 of the last 5 sources I used caused outbreaks, so I'm leaning more towards growing process could be the source of the culprit.

Are there any particular new trends in growing ( chems etc )? I hope I can figure it out soon or I may have to stop medicating altogether :-(
