World of Warcraft Midnight Release Parties

Yeah, I know Im a massive nerd but Im not ashamed.

So is anyone else going to a midnight opening or release party tonight for the Wrath of the Lich King expansion? Im packin my bong up with some All Star Rhomulan right now, getting ready for a long night of gaming not to mention I havent played World of Warcraft, not a private server (shh) but the actual game, in over a year.

For The Horde!

Its being released tonight but not 'til midnight of course.

I still play CS every so often but Ive never competed in tournaments, Ive been in a few scrims but Im more of a pub gamer myself. Im not a team player, Im a speed rusher every round.

Honestly, Ive never been one for online roleplaying games, actually when I first heard about World of Warcraft I was angry that the format was being changed from Real Time Strategy to Massive Multiplayer Online. Im a very, very big fan of the Warcraft RTS series. The debut game, Warcraft: Orcs & Humans, was the first computer game I had ever played so I kind of grew up with it, buying the sequels and expansion packs as soon as they were released. When I heard it was being made into a game format I didnt even like I was pretty angry but once I tried it I loved it, to be able to interact with the lore and battle the notorious characters from the RTS is a lot of fun. Its like an interactive book, sounds odd, but it kind of makes sense.

I have a thing for massive nerds. Probably because I am one myself. I already reserved my copy of Lich King but I'm not going to be playing again until at least a month from now because all the servers are going to be ridiculously overflowing. It's a shame you're "For the Horde" because I'm a proud member of the Alliance. It's ok though, I still give naked hugs to horde.

Well, Im a fan of the RTS and the alliance are very arrogant and aggressive, aside from the near-pacifist night elves, in the storyline. Not just Arthas but the other notable characters as well, but the horde are a very honorable and noble people just trying to find a home again, as their native land was destroyed.

Anyway, I just logged on to get any necessary updates in preparation... 1.2 gig patch?!?! Hopefully it finishes by the time I get home.

I was more of an EverCrack addict, but I had a brief stint in WoW, haven't played in months though.

Might have to pick up the expansion and check it out again.

Re: World of Warcraft Midnight Release Parties

Ive got to say, GameStop employees arent very intelligent, at least not the ones controlling the line on wednesday night. They kept making different lines, "ok, everyone who has already pre-paid form a line here", then about 10 minutes later, "ok, everyone who has a reservation from a different gamestop form a line here" and then everything finally started to smooth out and the line was closing quickly. Alas they couldnt leave well enough alone, "ok, everyone who is paying with a credit card form a line here" which of course made things slow down yet again.

Anyway, I finally got the game at 1:20am so it was only an hour and twenty minutes in line, not as bad as I had thought. I remember the line for Warcraft 3 was ridiculous, I think I waited over 2 hours that time. The expansion takes about 10 minutes to install and integrate itself.

Very, very cool. The monsters are very unique and interesting not to mention some are massively huge, like bigger than archimonde or supremis. Its very nordic in design and atmosphere. The new death knight class is a lot of fun too. They are so overpowered, you can run a 5 man without a tank or healer, just 5 death knights running around destroying everything.

Im not gonna lie, I spent 22 hours playing it, from 2am to midnight. Its extremely fun and I do recommend it.

^ Nice! That's a good change from the Outlands' theme.

I have to wait to get the xp until payday next week- which is fine with me because I still have my one shaman at 67 and need to get my enchanting from 325 to 375. A week's worth of daily's might just get me the right amount of gold. I'm excited though, Northrend will be fun :)

SE, have you been to the new bg? Is it like Arathi?

Its very different than outlands, extremely beautiful and snowy landscapes, elegant structures, gigantic nordic ships, and more. Actually I didnt even know there was a new battleground, shortly after I found out about it the server I was on, including a lot of others, suddenly went offline with no warning, not even a restart its a straight shutdown. oh well, i needed something to force me off the game anyway

I think it depends on what you're doing/what role you like to play. My bf is doing the Death Knight and he loves it BUT he was a hunter before so that should explain why. The DK is designed far far better than most other classes and from what he tells me it's a lot of fun to play with. Things are a bit different for me bc I'm a healer. I'm happy that my resto shammy is a bit improved- the class is more about crit heals now and with the spell damage including both healing + damage I can do more damage (although I wish we had gotten our spirit link). Also, its made being a boomkin more of a viable option. I had abandoned my 70 druid bc I just got sick of it and I hate shapeshifting for some reason. I don't know much about the priest changes but all of the healing classes don't seem as happy as the tanks/dps. That's just from what I've read so I take it with a grain of salt. Blizzard created a new healing forum, you may want to check it out.

I haven't leveled as much in Northrend since I'm helping my bf level as fast as possible (DK's start out as lvl 53 i believe? i forget already). Syntax can probably answer that better than I can. So far it doesn't seem so much different than Outlands but again I'm only 72 on the shammy. But from what I've seen I do like the areas and the story line far more than BC.

The other point is that I think it depends on what you like to do. I play casually and don't do the guild thing much. I only like PvPing so my main goal is to get to 80 as fast as possible to do bgs and arena. Just my preference. If you like raiding then it may be worth it to you since there's new challenges and they lowered the number of people required to play them. Anyway, to sum up, I think you should get the xpansion :)

Re: World of Warcraft Midnight Release Parties

:) It is so tempting. Playing WoW on rainy days is the best! I really love Bg's not much of a raiding kind of person. I might just stop by the nearest Best buy and try it out. Probably start a new character .

The Death Knight sounds pretty cool.

Hehe :)
