I believe your speaking about MS 13, one of the most organized syndicates in the world. I believe that 13 is used frequently in Europe, an English friend had it tattooed on his arm.

Yeah. MS 13, Mara Salvatrucha, is one of the largest Salvadorian/latin gangs. They added the number 13 because of their alliance to the Mexican Mafia. I knew episodes of Gangland would come handy one day. Of course I meant no dissrespect to ladyknight of course as she is one of my favorite people on here!!!

When I first started using we called the amount we got for ten dollars a lid or can it was pretty much an ounce.

Around here it's Sur13. Delano is the cut-off between the north and south mexican gangs. Sur13 is the southern gang and nortenio(spelling?) is the north. There are 3-4 prisons in the Delano McFarland area and they are full of gang members (no surpirise) Same gang bs....sur is blue and nortenio is red. The Delano/McFarland area has had the worst gang violence lately. Many drive bys ending in death.

There is an estimated 50,000 industrial uses for cannabis/hemp. Henry Ford originally planned on making his vehicles out of hemp (plastics from resin) as well as fuel them with ethanol from hemp seed oil. I read in Jack Herer's book "The Emperror Wears no Clothes" that there is a prototype model T made from hemp plastic in the company's collection.

I learned from Jack Herer's book that the founding fathers of the USA, including George Washington, encouraged the growing of cannabis hemp, since it was used for a lot of things in those days, and they wanted the USA to have its own supply. More trivia is that it was used to make all the sails of the USS Constitution ship, as well as the paper that the original Constitution was written on, and was used to make all the canvas coverings over the wagons that were used for the westward expansion in the USA. And another piece of trivia that Jack proved true was the WWII film made by the US Navy, "Hemp For Victory," where the Navy did like a marketing campaign to encourage farmers to grow hemp during the war as it was needed to make rope.

Wow...when I hear the word "lid" and then here "10$ a lid"...I just have to say you are truly an OG...Im 32, and been enlightened for about 14 of them but I was not lucky enough to catch one of those 4 finger fat sacks from back in the day...I wish I could have though...but seeds and all really?....

Firstly, in the time period you are talking about, hashish was not smoked-it was eaten or put into wine. Smoking was brought frome the new world in the 1500s, by Euro explorers. From there it went around the world. It's no coincidence that Chinese opium pipes looked like native american peace pipes-it's because that's what they were.

The version I got from research (to be honest, I don't remember the exact site-I'll try to find it later today) is that the recruiter of assasins (the caliph or some such) would recruit young men, and give them wine and food laced heavily with hashish until they passed out. They were then taken to a secret garden, and when they came to, were told they were in Paradise, and given anything they wanted, nubile young women included. They were then allowed to party for a little while....

At that point, they were dosed again and brought back to the caliph, at which point they were told that they could re-enter Paradise by doing the murders they were assigned. They were also given smaller doses of hashish before going out on their bloody missions, but it was the prospect of Paradise that drove them, not the hash.

That's awesome!!! The history aspect, not the brainwashing. We all know about the collective brainwashing that the media has heaping on us for a generations.
