Rep Power: 0 | Pardon the asking of this question again, but I felt it really wasn't answered in the other thread. What are some good methods for making medicinal tea? I've never attempted making it myself, and have no clue where to begin. Indica, Sativa or Hybrid? Do you grind up the marijuana? Do you save your stems for mmj tea? Does it work? How much liquid is needed? How long do you boil, and steep for? What other kitchen hardware are you using? French press? Coffee maker? Coffee Grinder? Homemade reusable hemp cloth tea bags? Do you enjoy your tea hot or cold? Would it be possible to combine a medicinal tea recipe with a sweet tea one? What works best for you? I wana know. Thanks! | Re: Medicinal Tea I posted a while back about finding mmj tea in coop, you can read it here There should be some helpful info there from other members. I've made it myself but I don't use water (it's not fat soluble), I use soy milk (I'm lactose intolerant). I put a carton in a sauce pan and grin an inexpensive flower put that into a steel tea strainer and steep on low for 45 minutes. Then I take a cup of the medicated milk add some water and a tea bag and drink. Be careful, I have over medicated by drinking too much of the mmj milk. There are a lot of ways to do it. This is by no means to best but it works for me. You can usually steep the soggy flower again to make more medicated milk. I'm saving my stems from my meds and will steep those to see if it gets medicated enough. I hope this helps. Quote:

And one more question, if you don't mind: You mention over-medicating on the milk. How much, then, would you suggest starting with?

| Re: Medicinal Tea Regarding Oil: I have no clue. I'm very limited in the kitchen because of my injury. If you really want to know, you should check other threads (I think I remember seeing one here or somewhere else) or start your own thread about oil. Regarding over medicating: I over medicated because I put a lot more milk in my cup of tea that time because my boyfriend, at the time, said he didn't feel the effects and he drank everything I gave him. I resteeped the soggy flower, left over from my boyfriends batch, in more soymilk and thought I should drink more before going to see "Across the Universe" but that was a mistake. I don't like being that medicated. I generally put one cup of green milk in with the remained of the cup full of water and a tea bag. That time it was like two or three cups of medicated milk with a little water and a tea bag. Yes you can resteep the flower/stems more than once and still get a good medicated milk. |

| Re: Medicinal Tea I assume a lactose-free milk like Lactaid would work as well, since there's still the same amount of fat in it as regular milk? This sounds great, thanks for posting everything. I would like a nice sativa/hybrid edible and those are the stems I've been saving, so I think I'll save up some shake as well and try to make this at some point. |

| Re: Medicinal Tea Yes, any milk substitute with fat in it will work. Some have more fat than others. I was also asked somewhere else about ratios, here's my response: To be honest, I'm not scientific about it. I think 2/3 is a strong ratio. Use less med milk if you don't want to go to be every time you drink it. It does take about 45-75 minutes to kick in but once it kicks in it last for hours (like most edibles should). I started making the milk for my (ex)boyfriend, when we were dating. He was afraid to smoke because it made him paranoid and he had his own hang ups about it. If you don't have a metal tea strainer you can use a coffee filter but just make sure it is sealed completely. You do NOT want plant matter in the milk, it will upset your stomach. You can re-steep that coffee filter (or soggy meds) at least one more time (maybe 2). And the milk with be green (that's a good sign) but NO plant matter. I can't stress this enough. I don't think it matter if you steep the tea bag in the hot water, med milk, or both. The tea is really just for flavor. You could drink the milk by itself if you really wanted to. Quote:

| Re: Medicinal Tea Quote:
i just copied and pasted my PM here.... Heya, well i did sleep very well last night from the tea i had made. i wasn't quite sure of the ratio milk to water. So i had the cup with 2/3 hot water,(1/3med milk) put my regular tea bag in and when tea was steeped i put in the med milk from the coffee filter and shake, when i squeezed the filter the milk came out a green color and i filled the rest of the cup from the jar i'm storing the milk in. It took a while to hit me though, but when it did i know i had to go to bed. i slept for 6 hrs, that is a record. Thank you again. i even think mamma will like this. My question to you would be, what ratio do you use? i am mentally challenged like duh. how much water, how much milk and do you steep your tea bag with both already mixed? And does it even matter? i thank you again for a restful night and at least i found a way to medicate for bed and i will take the next couple days off and do it in the day today and see what it does. See ya another day my friend. i was also told i may have used too much med milk. i reckon you can add as much as you want, experiment with how much you need to use. It took about 45 min or so to hit me. But i slept like a baby. Hope this helps others. bp Oh by the way in the daytime, i used less milk and did just fine. peace....

Rep Power: 11 | Re: Medicinal Tea I love drinking teas, and this is what I usually do. I gently simmer 1 gram MMJ (I just use Kushes, but I guess the lower grades should work well) per cup of whole milk(soy milk or rice milk) for 20 minutes...remove from heat and steep 1 mint tea bag per cup for 4 - 6 minutes...strain and refrigerate...stores well for at least one week. I make a version of this with sugar and alcohol and liquor flavouring. I use 10% cream instead of whole milk and at Least 3.5 grams of cannabis per cup of cream...stores well for about 6 - 12 months...one ounce per serving...warms the heart! |
