Rep Power: 556076 | I've recently started grilling for the first time in my adult life. I know there's lots of grillers on here so I'd love to hear from the enthusiasts. I'm open to different types of foods- various meats, veggies, fruits, etc. (I grilled asparagus the other day and it turned out rather good :yum:). Ooh, and recipes are much appreciated too! |

Rep Power: 192289 | Re: Grilling! Everything tastes better grilled! Meat, Poultry, Seafood... it all rocks on the grill! And the bestest flavor in veggies comes out on the grill as well! Toss some peppers, squash, even onions on for a bit, and you've got yourself an epicurian delight!!! Nothin' like a good ol' tri tip, grilled to perfection! Ask Gopers for a few pointers! His politics may be questionable sometimes... But give that man a spatula and a set of tongs, and he's the master! Last edited by KushMeister; 03-09-2009 at 09:03 AM.. |

Rep Power: 353312 | Re: Grilling! I've made grilled shrimp. I would use a large sheet of aluminum foil fold it over to make it stronger. Then put shrimp, butter, fresh garlic wrap all together and close it by rolling over the end. let simmer for just a few mins while your BBQ everything else. YUMMY. |

Rep Power: 73654 | Hey MRT !! Welcome to the wonderful world of GRILLING !! Here's my tips- 1. Mesquite Charcoal is BEST !! ( not knocking the ease of propane, but flavor is best ) 2. Try using Kosher salt on your meat ( works amazing on beef, just sprinkle & wait ) 3. Slow cooking is best....( I even bar-b-que my Bacon....on a foil tray-works great ) Best part of Grilling....No pots or pans to wash !! Easy clean-up. ( healthier too !! ) Take care & ENJOY :partysmile: STEVE-O |

Rep Power: 7610 | Re: Grilling! Beer can chicken: Take a whole chicken well seasoned inside and out with a dry rub or marinade...open up a can of your favorite beer and place the opened beer into the cavity of the chicken balancing the chicken upright ...the beer will evaporate inside the can keeping the entire chicken super juicy and flavored through and through!!!It's agreat way to barbecue your chicken |

Rep Power: 26606 | Re: Grilling! when i had my weber (i unfortunately didn't get to take that in my "divorce" :( ), i would grill all the time. i'm all about charcoal/hard wood. the weber is an excellent grill because it gives you the advantage of space, plus direct and indirect methods of cooking. i've cooked lots of "larger" items such as: duck, turkey, roasts, plus pretty much anything you could imagine. simple things such as chicken, steaks, fish and burgers rock on the grill. |

Rep Power: 8731 | Re: Grilling! grilled boneless chicken breasts seasoned with that dank montreal steak seasoning, with just a hint of spicey honey bbq glaze on the top. mmmm. as for veggies, i love grilled bell peppers, then diced, mixed with grilled onion, grilled sliced beef seasoned to your liking, with lettuce, sort of a "beef salad" if anyone has had thai food. i don' t know the exact dressing used in thai style beef salad, but i use lots of lime/lemon with just black pepper sprinkled on top. but ya, anything is better grilled. woooo for grilling! |

Rep Power: 572 | Re: Grilling! This is a story of how I started to like jalapenos....why it took a Mexican so long baffles me. One day my friend and i got super stoned and he decided to makes some bomb burgers.....i was intrigued by his style so i watched his every move. He got his beef and put it in a bowl. He opened a CAN of chopped jalepenoes and poured the juice in the beef. He also added worshisher (i cant spell that shit) sauce and some Monterey Steak seasoning (i cant remember the brand). He mixed the beef to distribute the flavors around. After letting it marinade for and hour or two he brought out the beef and made the into bowl like patties. He threw in some jalepeneos in one "beef bowl" and got another "beef bowl" and covered the top, pinching the edges to seal in the jalapenos. He repeated this step until all the beef was gone. Next thing i knew those hunks (and i mean hunks) of meat were on the grill, once they were done i had about 3 of those bad boys, forever falling in love with jalapenos. Gee i hope i didn't leave out a step. Make sure your get a can jalapeno with the juice still in there...i think this made a major difference in flavor. And don't forget the pepper jack cheese! If you accomplish this lemme know what you think! |

Rep Power: 3681 | Re: Grilling! I highly suggest this book, The Cook’s Illustrated Guide to Grilling and Barbecue. A typical grill full of food for me in the summer, a few pork chops/rib eyes/sausages/burgers, whatever meat or fish of the day, but 3/4 of the grill covered in veggies. Quartered bell peppers, halved zucchinis or yellow squash, whole button mushrooms, 1 inch thick eggplant slices, 1/2 inch thick slabs onion, or what have you that I'll do a quick marinade in olive oil with crushed garlic, salt, pepper and some fresh chopped herbs. Toss them in a bag with the marinade and cook over a high heat to get some good browning on them. Usually just turn once, after getting nice grill marks on the first side. Just have to watch out for flare ups from excess marinade. Or, I just do veggies and then chop them into large bite sized peices after cooking and cooling off a little. Toss them all with cooked and cooled to room temp buckwheat kasha or bulgur wheat. Add some simple vinaigrette for a complete vegan meal. Then there's slow bbq'ing for 6 or 8 hours with wood chips over one side with fire, a pork shoulder on the other side not over heat. Indirect cook low and slow, add wood chips once an hour or so and you can make fall apart tender bbq pork that's awesome. Damn, good thing it's bbq season again, I need to get cooking. |

Rep Power: 556076 | Re: Grilling! Thank you all I think my best accomplishment thus far has been squash, zucchini, cheery tomatoes + pineapple kabobs. I'm starting with the basics. Honestly, it took me a while to feel comfortable turning the damn thing on. I still have this hidden fear that I'm going to blow myself up while trying to ignite. lol@me :) Thanks for the book tip iron! I'll have to pick it up! |
