Rep Power: 4235 | "In Pot We Trust" Last night, I watched an extraordinary documentary on Showtime called "In Pot We Trust". The film looks at five chronically ill people who are using Medical Marijuana to help treat their conditions. Episodes from their lives are inter-cut with various political, medical and law enforcement scenes. Some of these represent efforts to broaden legal protection for the patients; as other characters in the film engage in the waging of the local and federal 'War On Drugs'. Parts of "In Pot We Trust" are quite difficult to watch, but this adds to the drama - and to a fuller appreciation of the reality - of the lives of actual people who are suffering needlessly, because of the cruel and capricious drug laws in America This is a well done film that deserves to be seen, just as much as the patients depicted deserve to have many serious legal and logistical obstacles removed, as they pursue the relief that Medical Marijuana affords them! - take a look ... Especially that last scene with her smoking a bowl. Her stutter almost goes away. Driving all over Kansas city. Poor girl. This should be must see material for anyone doubting the power of medical marijuana. |

Rep Power: 4235 | Re: "In Pot We Trust" I lived in Kansas City during most of the 1980s and there were some rougher parts of town that even I wouldn't go to - yet this poor woman was forced by the idiotic laws in this country, to risk her life (and losing her kids) just to find a little relief from her medical problems. Insane! I grew up near DC and I've lived in San Diego for nine years, so it was interesting to watch a film that showed so many places I've lived. Same thing with the film "Traffic". Much of it was filmed in DC, Cincinnati (where I lived before coming to San Diego), and here. |

Rep Power: 4235 | Re: "In Pot We Trust" The link at the end of my post will let you watch the whole documentary via Google Video - which is perfect for people who don't have Showtime. But I agree - this kind of film should be shown on more widely available (and/or free) channels. |
