Rep Power: 0 | This is one of the best Rock N' Roll documentaries of all time. Pastor gives it his highest recommendation. I happened upon this film by chance, I was never really a fan of Anvil at all. I don't think you even need to be a fan of rock music to be taken in by their story. After watching it I could not help but root for them. It's kinda like watching "This Is Spinal Tap". Except it's a real band this time, so some of the things that are funny for a fake band are not as funny to a real band. There is a full range of emotions in the film, they visit Stonehenge and there is a volume dial that goes to eleven. Also the drummer medicates througout the film, although it isn't really discussed that much. I am curious to what others' opinions are, please post if you have seen it! Call me nostalgic but watching these 50 year old plus band members hyping each other up to play for 4 people in prague or some dive bar in belgium is reality tv at its finest. I haven't watched as good an expose on the human struggle to find happiness since that movie, happiness. Oh, maybe 20 years plus of random show playing for 4 people tops at your red onion in pomona on sunday at 2:15 Am had something to do with it. Last edited by shecky7; 05-28-2009 at 03:20 PM.. |
