OK, bud someone has to root for the loser.

Without sounding like a confident jackass, I think the Yankees will run through the Phillies. There was one team in all of baseball that scared me, and that was the Angels. The Yankees have handled them so no worries from here on out.

This is a bad matchup for the Phillies, I'll explain why. Lets break it down.

The Phillies lineup is very good. The best way to describe it, is an american league built lineup, playing in the national league. What I mean by that, is that you get no breaks. You can see it ithe clinching game when the dodgers pitched around ryan howard, and jason werth hit the 3-run bomb off him. Thats AL style baseball. In the national league, the lineups are so watered down, you can pitch around the biggest threats. Not with the Phillies though. With that being said, the Yankees lineup is even better. Betters hitters all the way through. I dont need to post up the Yankees numbers, you've seen them all year.

Another point I'd like to make, is that its easy to get hyped up about that Phillies offense, but you also have to look at who they are hitting. Vincente Padilla, who pitched a game, is an american league scrub. He couldn't cut it in the AL, so he went to the NL. He dominated the NL, including shutting down the Phillies in game 2 pitching 8 innings of 1 run ball. This same guy couldnt even make it out of the third inning at yankee stadium earlier this year. The Phillies beat up on Clayton Kershaw also. He's 21. Look at the quality pitchers the Yankees are facing, and then look at the Phillies. Its no wonder they put up so many runs per game. But they also give up a lot of runs per game, which brings me to my next point.

Pitching: Everyone said, "what happened to the Angels offense"??
CC Sabathia, AJ Burnett, Andy Pettitte, and the Yankees bullpen. Thats what happened. Good pitching wins in October. Teams with weak pitching get exposed. The Phillies do not have pitching depth. Cliff Lee is a damn good pitcher, but he aint no CC, and thats who he will match up against. You wont see Cliff Lee throwing 8 innings of shutout ball against the Yankees, like he does in the NL. After Cliff Lee, you have Cole Hamels. He couldn't even make it out of the fifth inning in the last game with LA. He is either injured, or tired, or both. He accumulated a lot of innings last year going deep in October, and now its showing. After Cole Hamels, you have an assortment of Pedro, Happ, or Blanton. Thats pathetic for a championship caliber team. Yanks will have a field day with those guys. Look at the Angels, they have four very quality pitchers, and even they cant stop the Yanks.

Bullpen: This is the biggest mis-match of the series. Yanks bullpen is lights out, for the most part, Phils bullpen stinks. Who will come into a game and hold a lead for the Phillies? They cant even hold leads against NL teams. Yanks will completely wear that bullpen down, just like they did to the Angels
Lets look at the ERA's - In the 2009 postseason:

Yankees - 1.91
Phillies - 3.04

In conclusion, the Yankees are just a bigger better version of the Phillies. The Phillies don't do anything better than the Yankees. This is just not a good matchup for the Phillies imo. Good pitching wins in October. We have it, they dont. I say Yanks in 5. There will be a celebration in Philly again this year, but it will be the Yankees celebrating on their field.

So did I Rix, LA baseball fan for life, both counties! But a congrats is due to the Phils and the Yanks because they played better baseball! I just hope that the world series is good with close games, no blowouts and a full 7 games, a fall classic to remember!
