Rep Power: 2410 | What do you think of about the 2009 Dodgers? Opening day is just around the corner. The Dodgers solidified their lineup with the signing of 2B Orlando Hudson and free agent SS Rafael Furcal. But the big news was signing LF Manny Ramirez. The Dodgers offense looks great with Manny, Matt Kemp, James Loney, Andre Eithier, Casey Blake, Rafael Furcal and Russell Martin. The pitching looks thin at best. We need another starter. Pedro Martinez looked good in the WBC. He would be a perfect #5 starter and would come pretty cheap. What do you think Dodger fans? |

Rep Power: 2410 | Re: What do you think of about the 2009 Dodgers? Well Matt kemp is only 24 yrs old. He hit .290 17 hr 76 rbi. He also had 93 runs, 38 doubles and 35 stolen bases. He needs to cut down on the strikeouts though. The guy has ALOT of potential. Hes a 5 tool player. He can hit, he has power, he has speed, hes a good outfielder , and hes got a good arm. Lets see if he can put it all together this year. Casey Blake is exactly what we need at 3rd base. Hes never gonna hit .300 or drive in 100 runs. He will hit around .260 with 20 hr and 80 rbi . And hes a solid 3rd baseman with a great arm. With Andre Eithier, James Loney, Matt Kemp, and Manny in the lineup we dont need Casey Blake do carry the offense. Just play a solid 3rd base and hit 15-20 hr with 70-80 rbi. Casey will do that |

Rep Power: 52757 | Re: What do you think of about the 2009 Dodgers? All we need to worry about is the pitching.... I think our offense is really going to come together this year. Matt Kemp will come through in time. He is still really young and needs more experience. I think in a few years he will be the most effective offensively. I watched a espn special on the young Dodgers a week ago and they even agreed with me. lol GO BLUE!!!!!!!! |

Rep Power: 2410 | Re: What do you think of about the 2009 Dodgers? Yeah our pitching is the big question mark. We have Chad Billingsley, Huroki Koroda, Randy Wolf, and Clayton Kershaw as our 1-4 starters. Pedro would come very cheap and his velocity is back. I havent heared anything about the Dodgers being interested though. Peter Gammons of ESPN was saying someone should pick him up. We should of never traded him back in the day. Thanks Tommy Lasorda for that brilliant Pedro Martinez for Delino Deshields trade. I think we got the better end of tht deal right? hahahaha yeah right! Rep Power: 427 | Im not much of a baseball person but all I can say is im going to a DOYER game this year for sure... EL MANYACO!!!! is in the HOUSE!!!! DOYERS did the right thing by signing MANNY, in this day and age of money goin out the window for unproven prospects, the MANNY deal showed the DOYERS are still in it to win it. Peace and GO DOYERS! |

Rep Power: 1183 | Re: What do you think of about the 2009 Dodgers? Bleed Blue Baby!!! You guys have said it all! Dodgers are solid on offense and fielding, it's the pitching that we gotta worry about, but i think kershaw will come through in clutch situations, but only the season can tell! I'll definately be hitting up some dodger games this year! :slaugh: |

Rep Power: 1175 | Re: What do you think of about the 2009 Dodgers? As a Dodgers fan I am pretty geeked for the season. The middle infield is insane (Kent retired so we picked up Orlando Hudson who is a crazy fast, gold glove winning 2nd base stud), solid out field. Strong starting pitchers. Consistant bats through out the entire line-up (not sure how I feel about Blake hitting 8th, but whatever) Very well rounded team in my opinion. The only potential issues I see are the middle relief pitchers (mainly Cory Wade) and maybe the 4 and 5 starting pitchers. I am very happy with the team this year. |

I dig Blake. I think as a guy that is consitant in making contact with the ball every at bat, he should hit towards the middle of the line up. Maybe in the 6 spot and push Martin and Kemp behind him. (but then again, Joe Torre probably knows what he is doing) I like Broxton a lot (he is my sons favorite Dodger). He brings the heat. I dont sweat the hits or walks. He will get you more K's per innings then walks or hits. In '07 he walked one batter for every 4 strike outs, for a guy that only need to get 3 outs per game, thats good in my book. Besides, for his career, his oponents batting average is right around .200 Cory Wade, I am not sold on yet. I hope he does well, because if not Guillermo Mota, Kuo and Belisario (sp?) will end up eating more of his innings up and he will be used in a more limited role. That being said, I see a well rounded team that should have no real issues with the rest of the NL west.

The thing about Broxton is he does strike out alot of guys. But he walks too many. He always puts guys on everytime he pitches. He throws hard and has alot of talent but he hasnt put it all together yet. When he was used as the closer last yr he had a bunch of blown saves. He looks good so far this yr. So i hope he has a breakout yr. As for Cory Wade, I like his velocity. I think he'll do fine. Joe Torre is a former catcher and he loves Wade's ability. I hope Broxton and Wade both have good yrs. And if talented lefty Clayton Kershaw and rookie 5th starter James McDonald can come up with some quality starts, we should have a great season Last edited by chobeman74; 04-10-2009 at 06:01 PM..

Rep Power: 2410 | Re: What do you think of about the 2009 Dodgers? Yeah how about Casey Blake!! He's on pace for a 54hr 135 rbi season. I know hes only hitting .200 but weve only played 6 games. Casey Blake is gettin up there in age (36) so he's on the decline but still a solid player. He will hit .250-.260 20-25 hr 70-80 rbi. Thats better than most teams #8 hitter. He leads the team in hr (2) and rbi (5) through the first 6 games. So there should be no hatin on Casey Blake Last edited by chobeman74; 04-11-2009 at 11:34 PM.. |
