Rep Power: 7473 | Re: lakers 2010 I think the Lakers are just trying to show Lamar some respect, but they ain't gonna pay him. They have Mr. Artest now , so mebbe they don't need Odom no mo. If he stays , the Lakers will repeat without a doubt -and they're looking pretty good already. |

Rep Power: 477 | Re: lakers 2010 have to respectfully disagree with that luckydog, Lamar Odom is an integral part of this Lakers team. While I agree we improved with the in effect swapping of Ariza for Artest, I think that the improvements shouldn't be overvalued. Artest is a better defender and three point shooter right now in the prime of his career, an all star caliber player, but I hated losing Ariza as he is so young. Since the upgrade isn't that huge, it is necessary for the Lakers to resign Odom. He is such a unique player being 6 foot 10, quick and with the outstanding rebounding abilities. Additionally, it appeared that he was developing his shot more in the playoffs as we saw him draining 3s consistently (who knew? lol). If he can consistently hit that, he is invaluable on the Lakers because you could hypothetically play him at the same time as Gasol and Bynum since he can now play farther from the basket with the ability to knock down the J. That is a deadly combo of 3 guys around 7 feet. We can dominate the boards that way. However, if we don't sign him, we would have try to sign someone else (free agent market is clearing up) or trade for another player, an option which I don't readily like. Otherwise, we could rely on Josh Powell, a solid player who has decent size and a good shot, but not near the rebounding skills or offensive game of Odom. We have to sign him if we want to improve as a team, and not take a step back while the Celtics, Cavs, Spurs etc. have made huge pickups and improvements. Hopefully Odom will realize that he's at home in LA and doesn't need to go back to Miami for that extra 4th year of guaranteed money. GO LAKERS |

Rep Power: 11507 | Re: lakers 2010 Lamar is believing his agents "hype", but there is no market. He asked for 10mil per and five years, you have to bend. Dr Buss got ticked when the 9.3 mil deal wasn't even responed to and had news Odums camp was taliking to Dallas and Miami and holding out that Portland would drive up the $$$$. But Hedo got the last "Big" deal. Odom didn't even see his name on EPSNs top free agents and felt dissed. He was; but by ESPN not the Lakers! He loves the beach so Miami which he still has a home, or LA are the choices. LA had a 30 mil 3 yr or a 36 4yr which was more than the markets value. Lamar is coming off the bench so the Lakers can't abandon everything to sign him, as the cap is reduced and they will pay 20 mil for him at that rate. His year was badly inconsistent, especially considering its a contract one. He would be re-united with his childhood team-mate Artest which should matter! Not to mention he isn't getting a ring in Miami unless he goes to a jewelry store, lol. This should end better than Arizas deal which "another" agent screwed up. My advice; Lamar take the three year deal with a 3rd year player option and re-negotiate later when the moneys there. PS; the Spurs I'll give you as improved but the Celts and Cavs no. |

Rep Power: 477 | Re: lakers 2010 You can't justify not paying him just because he isn't a starter. He should be coming off the bench but sharing roughly even minutes with Gasol and Bynum. It's important that his minutes are near the other two bigs so that Gasol won't tire himself during the regular season. I think he should take the deal offered by the Lakers because its really not that bad. He would be guaranteed 3 years at $9 million and the team would have an option to pick him up for the 4th year. If that option isn't picked up, the Lakers would have to buy him out for $3 million. He could then sign a contract with another team and pocket that $3 million. Although he wouldn't have to pay sales tax in Florida and has a home there, he shouldn't blow what he has going on in LA. I'd also think endorsement deals would be better playing in LA. Quote:
While I can see your contention that the Cavs didnt improve, I think Shaq may have a big year there with Lebron, and if they can manage to pick up another big man, that would really help them. As for the Celtics, they lost a few good guys including Powe, but they picked up Sheed! he's still playing great ball, and with a healthy and hungry Garnett next year, they will be tough to beat. I'm looking for the Lakers Celtics rematch in 2010, with us coming out on top this time  | |

"he isn't getting a ring in Miami unless he goes to a jewelry store" too true and effin funny. "GO LAKERS" I'll second that emotion |

Rep Power: 83556 | Re: lakers 2010 Lamar was great in the series coming in for Andrew B. Now if Andrew can get his confidence back up enough in 2010, and play healthy through the season, get a little quicker so he does not foul as often, then Lamar may not be as critical. But it could take another season or two for Andrew to build back up the confidence needed. |

Rep Power: 11507 | Re: lakers 2010 His agent over-worked the deal; they had 10 mil per for 3!! They tried to leaverage that with other teams to get the Lakers to make it "for 5" after not responding to the offer and communicating with Miami/Dallas The Dr. pulled the deal, as he felt dissed. Couple that with the fact it wasn't a unanimous decision to "over-pay" Odum by 3+ mil per, when he balked the deal went sour, now he has returned to talks but the deal is for less!! Sort of reminds me of the "Dog with the bone, staring into the pond" lol He wants the old deal but maybe its too late. So he will take what he can get, to save face he (his agent) needs to look like they benefited in some way. Now if the Lakers signed him through 5 years "they'd" be stuck with many players whose skills may have diminshed. Miami has come all the way out here to lure Lamar as if they sign him, they would make the deal to get Boozer w/o him, that deals dead and Wade will opt out next year. |

Years back when the Lakers played at the Sports Arena; yes thats right the Sports Arena the Forum wasn't build yet. Chick would drive around handing out tix for the game. Trying to drive interest in the team, he did that and so much more. (Deep Shaq voice) ...."Can you digg it!!" |
