Rep Power: 4028 | Okay i have been a heavy stoner for about 2 years now. All my life i have been very in shape. i was a boxer, played football in highschool and i am only 21. since highschool i kind of let myself go. i want to get back in the gym, so my question is would i be able to start going to the gym 4 or 5 times a week and still be able to smoke everyday? is there anyone out there that has gone through the same situation? and if i do smoke and work out what effects does mmj have? :confused1:thanx |

People who have been athletic for a long time generally have a good chance of getting back into shape in no time regardless of how long they have been out of their exercising habits. Just like anything, you have to start out very gradual, like do 15 minutes to a half hour of cardio every day for about two weeks. Then start strength training after those two weeks (maybe a half hour to 45 minutes a day 3-6 days a week). Build up your strength and stamina from there and do what your body tells you to do. As far as heavily medicating during this time, I'd say, if your body lets you only do it at night or before you sleep. Make it that reward every day after you accomplish your exercising. I played volley ball all through out high school and gymnastics when I was 9-15. Once I started college my activity levels pretty much went stagnant. After 5 years of losing my routine, and a car accident after which messed up my back, my dad who is a personal trainer part time taught me this "getting your life back" exercise remedy, and I have been in my best shape ever since. |

I go to the gym (bout to go right now) pplay basketball baseball football...and run. I have been doing everything lately and i will say. Being a HEAVY mmj smoker out of my solid glass :), When you first start working out after smoking for a while, you might want to take it slow. Dont go overboard on cardio right away. your body will go into shock and you might lose weight fast, but if you smoke a lot. you might notice shortness in breathe. This is yourbody telling you, you need to gradually combine the two at your own pace. This is what i noticed for me at least,but I strated doing lots of cardio everyday whilst smoking lol and it keeps my lungs expanded ill tell you that! |

I used to smoke some sativa like trainwreck before I would surf but not anymore. I think Im less spaced out and more focused and have better reaction time when I surf sober. So I guess I smoke in the afernoon after Im done surfing like 3:00pm at the earliest. Acually I think I can surf alright if I smoke a sativa before I surf I just surf better sober. I have fun anyway when I surf so I dont really need to be stoned. The drug I use before surfing is caffeine. I work out for at least over an hour every day, alternating between lifting and cardio, or sometimes doing both on the same day. I smoke, on average, once a day, but only after the workouts have been completed. If you were to smoke right before a physical activity, you will not be performing to the best of your abilities due to lower blood circulation and possible drowsiness. From my personal experimentation, lifting weights while high can be done, but there is less of a willingness to truly push yourself to get true results. Running is a bit easier because time seems to travel faster and you focus a little less on how hard your breathing, but there is still some energy loss. Why spoil your workout when you can use it as a gift? Call it the twinkie on a stick theory, but knowing I can smoke when finished gives me something to look forward to. Creating this self-discipline mixed with any active lifestyle will make you a happier person, and that I can guarantee. Let cannabis compliment your life, not control it. |

I used to smoke every day, but I would also work out every day. Strength training and cardio would alternate days. Cardio could be as simple as a long run, and strength training was lifting weights in the gym. You can definitely do it, but it's going to take a little more work than normal. Try what Nwell said with the twinkie on a stick thing. You're going to need to push yourself more, but because of it, just be sure to give yourself that much more motivation. You can do it! |

When I started consuming edibles and smoke, I got better and the weight just came off and I've been able to walk and exercise ever since. However, I went slow and didn't push it. First, one day a week of exercise. Now? I walk miles almost everyday and workout when I feel like it! |

I think it's propoganda and the media that makes "stoners" look to be lazy and not fit. I highly disagree and many ppl who smoke MMJ CAN achieve physical fitness. Shit i know my bestfriends sister smoked a blunt with lamar odom NBA 09 CHAMPION (this was off season not during testing) Look at Ricky Williams, his power on the field and athletic ability was awesome (until he failed mutiple times for MMJ in the NFL, aside from that he had incredible athletic ablility and used MMJ to help combat his shy personality and disorder) I say keep working out, i feel "high" after working out usually because THC gets stored in my fat cells and i burn fat during exercise combined with endorphins being released into your body. Have you guys seen that video of arnold schwarzenegger smoking that joint??? EAT HEALTHY, DON'T OVERDO IT when you are first getting back into working out. Be smart, %50 of it is eating HEALTHY, if you want to get big, you cannot get big unless you eat big (eating big doesn't mean eating anything in sight, EAT IN PROPORTION, not too many dietary fats as well.... The facts are out there folks, just google good diets and workouts that suit your ability. Don't be lazy, hte more you workout, the more in tune you will be with your body, and healthier for life! i was able to quit cigarettes on being on a healthy diet and working out, and MMJ. STAY HEALTHY, LIFT HARD, ACHIEVE THE LOOK YOU WANT, and gain tons of personal confidence... i know i have... P.s. gimme some rep points if you honestly believe you can do it, I have helped many friends get back into shape. Usually by smoking a snap or two on a lift day where not much cardio is involved... also make sure you do proper form... The bottom line is... I am shocked not one of you hit hit on the head......................STRAINS ! It depends on the activity and the patient, you need to find what works for you.From Psychology to Physical, it is way better than takin' a PILL that has side effects attached to it. I lift weights HARD, everyday, and SSH is used to take some pain off yhe books, distract me from the aches, and give me the activity boost to get off my ass! Rep Power: 4060 | Re: CaN A sToNeR aChEiVe pHySicAl fItNeSs? honestly, you want to get physically fit, it doesnt matter what you consume. of course its always wise to have a proper diet and exercise regime, dont smoke cigs yadda yadda yadda. i longboard everyday, pretty much everywhere i go. from home to work is 2 miles and from home to school is 4 miles, i can do each trip in 15 and 30 minutes respectively. i also smoke everyday, depending on my longboard trek, i'll decide what i smoke and how i smoke. i'll never smoke hash before going out, and if i anticipate a hard skate i'll only smoke out of my binger. i'll also never smoke heavily, just enough to help me focus. i've found for myself, if i dont smoke, my mind is running 13,000,000,000 miles per minute and i fuck up while skating. running into curbs, people, all sorts of hazards. smoke a little, my mind is a little slower, and pretty much all im focused on is my skate. |

And after all that, I was like "Damn...I'm so not hungry" I couldn't even get an appetite going...all I could think of doing was getting out for a run or a hike. Also had a hit of Afpak in a San Francisco dispensary last week. I was hungry before the hit but not after. Funny thing was that it made things taste so good that after just a few bites of an excellent ten dollar burger, I was satisfied. No run away munchies though, like with so many other strains. | |
