Seems as though the international olympic committee feels that the 2016 OlympicGames will not

come to Chicago in 2016 ~ this outcome 'stunned' many espeially since Chicago was dropped after 1st round vote ,giving the outcome to a choice of Madrid or Rio de Janeiro ~ they will prolly giv it to Rio since So.America has never been host to any of the Games ~

BTW ,the US has already hosted "6" of the Games in the past ,more than Madrid ~ others speculate it was an arrogant gesture on the AmericanPresident's part to fly 7 1/2 hrs ,visit Copenhagen for 4 1/4 hrs ,then return home ?

All in all ,time to move on ~ that is all

Not a positive thing for Obama's rep especially to be ousted in the initial round. He made a special trip to plead his case.The young kids getting killed or seriously injured over there couldn't have helped, especially in the last few weeks.

Geez... The whole pitch for Chicago was going down anyway. Look at Olympic history, they rarely award the Olympics to Western countries two times in a row. There was no way they would go from London to Chicago. I doubt Madrid will win, it's going to Rio.

This whole notion that Obama did something terrible or wasted time is bullshit. He was on the ground for 4.5 hours, and met with his Afganistan General. The rest of the 15 hours were on Air Force One, which is fully equipped to communicate with anyone in the world. Bush went to the Olympics to WATCH and sit on his ass for FOUR DAYS while we had 2 wars going on and the economy about to tank. Didn't hear a PEEP about that, did we!!!

It already went to Rio actually. But of course they will blame Obama, they bitched at him for trying, they will bitch at him for not getting it just like they would if he would have gotten it. It's frustrating and sad but that's how our news entertainment media is, we have no real news anymore, well not on TV.

It's getting a little old. Some on TV and radio are making huge money just hating, and portraying themselves as victims. They are painting themselves into a corner, a corner of hate and negativity.

True but it wont matter because people only watch the news they agree with, and since they rarely will hear the dissenting view they will never need to change.

I agree they watch what they want to watch, but what they do is gin up hatred. Not all these people are stable, and some of them take it to heart when radio jocks say Obama hates America. Then when the dipshits act out, the radio jocks claim innocence.

True, and they do it all for the love of money. I could respect them maybe if they really believed the shit the spew, but they just say it because they know it will get the response and attract the type of viewer they want.

Already some conservatives are jumping for joy about this, Michelle Malkin about wet herself. What the conservatives forget is that they are demonizing the second largest city in the USA. The constant talking point about Chicago being thugland is going to bite them!

One thing is certain ,IOC didn't bypass Chicago b/c of its crime/murder issues ~ Rio de Janeiro has one of the 'highest' murder rates of any city in the world ~ that is all

Don't they have like a serious air quality problem in Rio as well? I mean, it makes me think of all that China did leading up to the Olympics there, shutting down factories, etc., to try to improve the air quality leading up to the events.

Air quality never seems to be a concern to the IOC. L.A. and Mexico City would never have hosted if that was the case.

I'm not so sure that's certain. While you are correct about rio, there hasn't been press all over the world about honor students getting beat to death in Rio. There has been about Chicago, hence the big surprise. The day after that boy was killed, a 14 year old was left for dead and is now in critical condition. That can't be a positive, especially with the voting a week away. Anyway, we'll most likely never know.

The IOC has 106 members from all over the world who often change their mind about many different things. Each one gets a vote. I think it would be hard to rule what all the IOC members care and don't care about.

The IOC does not watch Hannity or read the Drudge Report IMHO. China is a HUGE human rights violator and they got the Games. Like Silvercloud said, Rio is a crime epicenter, there are neighborhoods where Brazil officially warns tourists not to venture. One schoolyard murder did not lose the Olympics for Chicago, thats not possible.
