Rep Power: 6217 | first time makin butter ...a lil over 3 oz's good quality of shake/trim a g of kief to a lb and a half of butter.(3 8oz sticks) i have a very high tollerance and was wondering if this ratio is considerd on the high or low side of things. |

Rep Power: 760346 | Re: first time makin butter My method is taking a medium size pot putting about 2 cups of water in it, 1 pound of butter, 1 ounce of buds, 5 grams of hash, 3.5 grams of kief, cook on lowest setting you got for 1.5 hours and strain through cheeshcloth and refriderate, seperate water layer from butter layer. |

If I did mine in a saucepan-I use a crockpot on low-I would definitely consider a double boil(heat water in a big pot then add another pot with the butter in the hot water, no direct flame). It sure is fun experimenting! Also, I find clarified butter keeps longer if you make big batches. If you can't buy clarified butter(ghee) near your house you can always melt regular butter then just skim off the fatty upper cheesy stuff and the clear butter left is ghee! Maybe that can add to someones canna-cook-book. Peace! | |

I've never had much sucess doing it any shorter time that 1 hour, but I've also cooked it as long as 24 hours but I think that was much weaker. The key is low heat, good butter to start with, good buds, good straining material. | |

Rep Power: 4574 | Re: first time makin butter That kinda ratio would make that butter taste disgusting in my opinion. Way too much cannabis no matter how high your tolerance is. Make sure the butter you use is unsalted. |
