Rep Power: 370 | Possible cause of Crohn's disease? I read an interesting article in the Chicago Tribune that explains what might be a cause of Crohn's disease: "Dairy cows can also carry some common maladies, including mastitis, a bacterial infection of the udder; foot rot, which they can develop from standing for long periods in manure, mud and damp straw; and Johne's (pronounced yo-neez) disease, a wasting illness. Scientists believe these diseases are not carried into the human food chain, with one possible exception: Health and animal scientists are currently debating whether the traits of Johne's are responsible for Crohn's disease in humans. Crohn's disease is an intestinal disorder that can cause inflammation of the colon, severe abdominal pain, diarrhea and weight loss." Rep Power: 0 | Re: Possible cause of Crohn's disease? Personally, I don't buy it. I'm not a doctor, but I have a very strong suspicion that Chron's is simply a near-total, chronic depletion of beneficial gut flora (probiotic bacteria). Taking lots of probiotics has cured people of Chron's (look into the story of Jordan Rubin, he saved his own life with them and cured himself of Chron's). Anyone with Chron's or IBS reading this, please, try the combo of probiotics, digestive enzymes, and fiber. You will be amazed and will probably heal yourself. |

Rep Power: 538 | As an IBS and other chronic illness, I take everything lightly with salt. By the way - eating a diet LOW IN SUGAR is the most practical diet, with fruits & veggies. That way, if any alleged bug-a-boos are in your tummy, it won't be fed sugar (common for people to say sugar feeds something in there, blah-blah-blah). Digestive Enzymes, sure - they won't hurt; if you have the wrong balance of flora in your system, you can't digest your food. Yogurt will usually do the trick. BUT - in my case, my IBS is caused by actual SPASMS. I had them in the doctor's office, they took me to the ground in agony! I don't believe in a lot of the bunk out there - because like I love to say, "If it's going to work, it's going to work whether I believe in it or not!" Thus far - yogurt, painkillers, antibiotics and MMJ have worked, and I've not been blamed. But when my IBS is full throttle, only Belladonna with Phenobarbitol is going to relax the IBS, but I've had it for months at a time, first thing every morning, unable to eat until 1 PM. Only DRUGS help me; no wishing it away, experiments or anything else, will do it. So, no; just because ONE PERSON says it worked for them, with alleged "testimonials," doesn't mean it's going to work for everyone else. Herbal supplement companies are the new Millionaires, tons of money to be made, for different maladies. Don't mean to sound harsh, but oftentimes, herbs make me sick, themselves; two edged sword, because some of them ARE good!! Just the "Super Gut Flexor, guaranteed to help end your stomach issues, now with Guarana" I don't buy, lol. I just go by common sense, blood tests - and what my stomach can tolerate. Rep Power: 7052 | Re: Possible cause of Crohn's disease? My oldest son has Crohn's disease. When I heard about the Dairy Cow mastitis connection I had to think there might be something to it. I raised my children on Goat milk and from time to time the dairy Goats came down with mastitis. If anybody has anything further on this let me know. Thanks |
