| let's talk about IBS and MMJ I noticed a few patients have mentioned how MMJ has helps with their irritable bowel syndrome. I'm wondering which strains patients have found the most relief from.I'm also interested to know besides IBS, what to you suffer from and does MMJ help it? |

I have found AOTA to be the best for a daytime smoke. There is much pain relief, ease of the stomach, increased appetite, and a clear but powerful buzz. It is a might tasty strain when grown well too. Other than that I have found the Chem/Dawg family of strains to be highly effective, although Sour D is too heavy for me to use durring a work day. Since I know you are a student, maybe Sour D would be ok for you, it is not too much to deal with, just too much for the work I do. For my night time use I like Grape Krush. I also found great relief in Rose Petal from HCSC, but they have no more at the moment. |

Rep Power: 500 | Re: let's talk about IBS and MMJ i'd say good kush helps calm the stomach. The og/chemdawg/sour d type of meds work well for me also. Good purples probably work the best for me as far as pain management goes. Good gdp also helps my appetite. I can smoke just about anything before work (about 4 exceptions) so potency is not really an issue for me... for example this morning before work I Had a salad of 3 different OG's, followed it up w/ some pure kush, then master... oh and some trainwreck. I don't know how i don't hurt myself, lol. One thing that i've learned to stay away from, that will F w/ you (well me at least) is dirty concentrates. If there is mold in a concentrate it actually aggravates my intestines. The feeling only lasts for a few minutes after exhale, but it's hellacious. The problem is that most full melt has some kind of mold in it. If you can find clean concentrates though, they are well worth the donation, especially if you have to sit through a three hour class, or in my case watch a 3 1/2 hour high school football game. btw donation amount does not always mean cleanliness, more like perceived potency. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: let's talk about IBS and MMJ As an IBS MMJ patient, I have to say anything from the Kush family is the way to go for me as well. Gives me the same down, eased feeling from my core out as a nice thick indica, but all the cheeriness and up-energetic feeling as a good sativa lends. Also, the taste of kush, though some say must be acquired, is IMHO the sweetest and tastiest of them all. |

| Re: let's talk about IBS and MMJ I was looking for a thread like this. I have CFS and when it's bad, I get symptoms that I have finally begun to realize are IBS-like if not actual IBS. I also have found the Trainwreck and Chemdawg gently restore my appetite and make it possible for me to eat, although unfortunately no matter what or how much I use, I still get nauseated and have, er, digestive "issues" after I eat anything except clear soup. However I need to keep my blood sugar up so I pretty much have to force the issue by smoking before eating when my symptoms are bad, and just live with the consequences. |

Rep Power: 22 | Re: let's talk about IBS and MMJ well...as a IBS patient using MMJ, I would say strong indicas are used to help with the spasming and cramping, but sativas can be used to alieviete the anxiety caused by constant bowel problems...I end up using a mix of indicas and sativas to help with my overall conditions..... |

It is a topic people seem uncomfortable talking about. As far as what strain works best- I get relief from all of it! That and ImodiumAD are my BEST friends when I have to deal with this misirable problem! Good Luck to all that have this painful problem! |

Rep Power: 538 | Re: let's talk about IBS and MMJ I find making tea out of sour diesel and a nice purple helps to ease my pain...except when a roommate downed it the other night, thinking it was just simply tea, when the IBS made me run to the bathroom! If I hadn't been in so much pain, I'd have wiped that silly grin off his face. He then tried to make it up to me, by petting my cat, and rubbing my feet. He has ADHD, and it mysteriously calmed him down, which alone cut my stress down! |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: let's talk about IBS and MMJ Hi guys, I want to share some important info about IBS and Chron's that will help many of you a lot. I don't want to cross-post though, so please look in the thread in this same forum called "Chron's Patients". I just posted there and I believe it is going to help. I have helped a lot of people already with this info. Cannabis can definitely be good for calming the body a bit, and in some cases calming the gut a LOT, however, the best you can ever do with it is treat the symptoms. You need to get at the root cause of IBS/Chron's and fix it, and that it what my post is about. Please check it out. Here's a link to that thread in case this one and that one drift apart: http://www.weedtracker.com/forums/sh...nts-56757.html |

Rep Power: 538 | I've refused the camera in the GI, because I've felt it would be a waste of time and money, since I'm a classic case of IBS. I don't know enough about Pro-biotics to dismiss them, anymore than I'd dismiss my team of doctors for all my illnesses! I don't blankly dismiss doctors, based on what one person says I can obtain at Whole Foods. Just like all the other treatments I receive for my Fibro, etc., I research everything thoroughly. If there was a cure for all of this, my doctors would be all over it, so they could focus more on important things - like cancer. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: let's talk about IBS and MMJ With no cure for IBS let alone a one-test diagnosis, I am finally having some relief with MMJ. All the pills I took, though some did help the IBS they left some awful side effects that didnt help anxiety at all. That is another issue, anxiety. I have had the good fortune of informative budtenders, and I have found for me that purple anything is highly effective. Indicas seem to cut the anxiety and IBS, so I end up paying less for MMJ than for the actual chemical pharmaceuticals my GI guy was prescribing!! |

Rep Power: 274 | Re: let's talk about IBS and MMJ I have gone through many doctors visits and many different pills that have not worked at all for my IBS. It was a severe problem for me throughout high school, because it would affect my attendance to the point that the administration was sending letters home to my parents. Unlike many of my peers, I had never experimented with marijuana(or any other 'drugs') while I was in high school and I had no desire to do so. Along with my IBS, I also suffered from severe anxiety, and ADD. Once I had graduated from high school, I still suffered from problems with my IBS that affected my daily life in college and at work. When I did finally decide to try marijuana for recreational purposes with some friends, I didn't particularly care for it. I didn't use it for sometime after my first try, but the few times I tried it after, my girlfriend noticed a lessening in my stomach problems and nervousness from anxiety. After many trials and errors of me trying to figure out what I was doing in order to improve my condition, I finally realized it was the marijuana. Needless to say I was surprised, because at that time I was ignorant to the amazing healing qualities that cannabis has. Since I got my doctors recommendation, my daily life has immensely improved, and I have been able to handle my school work better by improved concentration (lessens my ADD). I truly see medical marijuana as a miracle cure-all, it helps me with my IBS, anxiety, and my ADD. I really don't know where I would be without it today. So now I am living a much fuller life not having to worry about how my stomach is going to be or if I am going to have an anxiety attack. I am still a full-time student (I made the dean's list this past semester), and I also hold a steady part time-job. I am also proud to say that I will be starting work on my bachelor's degree this fall. I try to educate myself about medical marijuana as much as possible, and I also make a conscious effort to be a responsible cannabis user. I know younger medical marijuana patients tend to get a bad rap, but I am here to set an example of how mature a young adult in pain can manage their life and use this wonderful natural medicine in a responsible way. As far as strains go that work for me, heavy purple indicas work well for evenings at home, but if its during the day or out and about, a 60/40 50/50 hybrid(my favorite) usually really does the trick. This is the first time I have shared my story here on WT, thank you for reading. |
