Rep Power: 14758 | anyone wake up naucious? what strains to use? Ive tried everything, cola syrup, all the "stomach coatings" etc. i know GDP is one of my best friends, any other strains out there to cut out Nausea? Or any other methods to getting rid of nausea caused by GERD/IBS? Seems like all the "fixes" just hurt the stomach more, any help is well appreciated. |

Rep Power: 304691 | Most strains will take away my nausea and give me an appetite, so usually it's the "side effects" that I have to be careful of. I end up going with a sativa, but not something too up or speedy. Green Crack or NYC Diesel first thing in the morning sometimes is too strong and passes my appetite right on by like a cup of coffee. On the other hand, strong indicas or purples just make me want to sleep. Lately, UK Cheese, Blue Dream, Jack Herer, Banana Wreck, and Sage crosses have been happy morning appetite starters, without dragging me down too hard or crashing too soon. Happy experimenting! |

Rep Power: 25508 | Re: anyone wake up naucious? what strains to use? I've battled gerd/ibs for years. Would wake up sick to my stomach, sometimes throwing up bile. Seen alot a of doctors too, both traditional and nontraditional. Here whats helped me the most. Vape instead of smoking in the morning. I stick to sativas Raw Honey, two spoonfuls daily. Raw Milk (that means RAW) daily, this one get pricey $$$ Umeboshi, soak in water/tea and drink mornings. After you drink the liquid eat the Umeboshi. This may taste a little funny at first, (its very salty) but its amazing stuff. Also, keep a food diary. try to locate food types that aggravate your condition. This will vary from person to person. Heres what I found. Things that you eat all the time can grow to be allergenic after years and years. I found that wheat and seafood aggravated my condition. These were foods that I loved and eat DAILY. |

I second the Umeboshi. I also use apple cider vinegar for a simple tea to relieve nausea. I also take a probiotic at 2 to 3 times normal dosage. As far as strains go I am finding White Rhino to be very effective at reducing and disbursing nausea.

Rep Power: 7381 | Re: anyone wake up naucious? what strains to use? I too have been struggling for years with GERD (Gastroesophogeal Reflux Disease). If you smoke tabacco that will not help you with your situation. I would recommend aloe vera juice (2 tsp) with juice in the morning. Keeping a log of what your daily diet as dieselworks recommends is also very important to locating issues that aggrevate the symptoms. I personally notice that eating tomato sauce, acid based juices, and some spicy foods make the symptoms worse. Try not to eat late at night before bedtime (digestion is best served in a upright position). Acidopholus and yogurt as well as whole milk as mentioned above is also very helpfull. The Aloe Vera will help with the IBS as well. Do a cleansing to reset the digestive system (sorta speak), start off slow with broth the following day and clear liquid. Then move the greens and slowly introduce meat products if it's already part of your diet. Keep healthy - HALO |

Rep Power: 25508 | Re: anyone wake up naucious? what strains to use? Yes, I like ginger too. Reed's Jamaican style Ginger Beer is my favorite. The Extra has 26 grams of ginger. Or I like juicing into some fresh carrot/apple juice. I found G13 settles my tummy, but then can't get much work done. |

Rep Power: 107 | Re: anyone wake up naucious? what strains to use? I wake up nauseous a lot. I find that a strong Bullrider or Trainwreck type sativa does the trick. Sometimes a good purple or a hybrid does the job. Its a pretty subjective thing, but I'd definitely recommend Bullrider. |

I can't believe I've found another person who knows the power of Reed's! (and ginger) When I get really nauseous it's the only thing I can hold down. Chewing some grated fresh ginger (or just gnaw on a piece) helps a lot. It's really personal but from years of non scientific research... my list. Nausea with excess motility (the runs or cramps) 1. Purple Indica hybrids i.e GDP, Grape Ape, sometimes these are a bit "light" for the job. 2. Mazar. It's a very heavy indica that many chemo patients use. 3. Good, cheap Afghani. 4. NL#5. Northern Lights. A classic for nausea and GI issues. Can be found for less due to the kush kraze. I lived on this during my bouts with IBD's and chemo. Less is more. But the winner in many online surveys is: Blueberry. A miracle in a bud. Lighter, persistant nausea: Skunk, Thai crosses... flo, juicyfruit.. just about anything. I've found the less "up there" hybrids work better for me, the ones that are are 60/40 S/I or even more on the indica side. I like M-39 as well. It's very good for GI issues but makes me sleepy. I'd avoid the boutique strains with their, well expensive donations. Save them for desert. You mentioned GDP. I think it's a good one but having a "deeper" indica like mazar or afghani may give you more releif. The trade off is more sedation. I will take some mazar to stop the GI spasms and then switch to something more "up" and functional. I hope you find the strain that treats you well :smile2: Platypus

Rep Power: 699 | Re: anyone wake up naucious? what strains to use? I have found that Schrom is fantastic in the morning. I find Schrom is the equivalent of a cup of coffee in the morning, it gets me up and going. Although the effects are pretty sativa dominant there are good indica properties in there too due to its Romulan genetics. It settles the stomach and body and still allows me to get up and function on a normal level. Other than that I find coconut water (I drink Goya) helps. It helps keep the stomach acid neutral, plus it tastes really good. |

What helps me best fight nausea and throwing up bile in the morning are Sativas and a Mountain Dew. Always sets me straight. Also something the personally helps me,(most people would recomend not doing this) eat a big meal or dinner about 30min before you go to bed. Helps me feel a little better come morning. It seems that Purples increase the hunger and munchies, but do not take care of the nausea.

I do find it interesting you eat right before you go to bed. I have often heard it is not really good for the stomach, but I, like you, have found the exact opposite. I love eating well right before I go to bed. On the mornings I did not eat before I went to bed my stomach feels really empty and acidic, my body hurts more, and there is always noticeable nausea. My only guess as to why this happens is because without the food in the stomach its acids accumulate instead of working at digesting. In the mornings there is too much acid in my stomach and therefore more heartburn, more nausea and more pain.

Rep Power: 12 | Re: anyone wake up naucious? what strains to use? strong sativas usually (for me) take away my munchies... if im in a situation where im hungry and no im not gunna be eating for a while ill smoke a strong sativa to take my mind off of food in the morning i find the best thing to smoke is just somehting mild... whether indica or sativa, as long as it is mild i wont get too hi too early, it helps me relax a lil and get my head straight for whatever my day might have in store for me when i want to pig out i go with a strong narcotic stone.... for me any ways... the couch lockers are the best munchie highs also.... i dunno, but when my legs are glued to the sofa, my arms have no problem shoving goodies down to my belly haha so in conclusion, if it were me... i prob wouldnt smoke too heavy of an indica..... maybe a stronger sativa if its early on in the day to sorta take my mind off what is bothering me but most likely just some kind of hybrid, some sort of middle of the road high thats gunna give you the best of both worlds..... from NNCC the last week they have had bubblegum for 30 an eighth... for me this would be perfect for a stomach ache..... its mostly an indica, but the high is UP and fairly long lasting for how potent it is hope that helps |

Rep Power: 1680 | Re: anyone wake up naucious? what strains to use? I have the same problem man i'm trying to find a strain thats best. But sometimes if you have morning pains/nausea bad enough no strain will help. At least for me today. Usually, i wake up with some moderate stomach aches and nausea but today i awoke and went straight to the bathroom to puke. And its not common for me to just get sick. But anyway i threw up and kept trying to eat throughout the morning and early afternoon but i couldnt keep anything down. Usually one or two bowls will suppress the feeling but today i had something to do and i just couldnt get myself to go. Today was the worst nausea/stomach pains i've experienced with mmj. I'm starting to think i should give my body a break or something i feel like i'm just starving all the time, even when i eat. The nausea and stomach throbbing put me out all damn day. I'm just now eating a meal @ 9:30 at night because everything else i ate today was thrown up |

Rep Power: 197 | Re: anyone wake up naucious? what strains to use? A professor of mine's wife invented and marketed a product called Preggie Pops to quell morning sickness in pregnant mothers. They are very inexpensive, and use homeopathic remedies, i.e. flavors that quell the stomach. There are a myriad of flavors, and they really do work. I used to give them to my students when we were taking them on field trips on our research vessel. Cut the incidence of sea-sickness by a lot, and they taste great. There is also a product tailored to chemo patients manufactured by the same company. I am not sure of the rules for linking stuff, but I will include their website. Delete it if I messed up. http://www.threelollies.com/ |

Yeah today isnt so bad. But still pretty noticable stomach pains/throbbing. I think a big part of it may be because of the added stress of things i needed to do that day. On days i dont have much going its much easier to deal with this. I did just what you said yesterday though. Didnt over exert myself (pretty much tried just laying down most of the day) and smoked small snaps when i needed to. I'll try eating some toast in a little bit and see how that makes me feel. Thanks again for your input, take it easy.. Peace

Rep Power: 1680 | Re: anyone wake up naucious? what strains to use? Also i'm wondering, does anybody know if the more cannabis you smoke effect how instense the morning pains are? Or is it different for each person? Because i wouldnt even say i smoke very much and i felt horrible yesterday. I am also wondering if i could be getting more severe pains than most patients because of my past ecstasy and lsd/dob use. I hope the nausea and pain is just from my hunger and not something internal. |

dont eat after 8pm chocolate, soda, red liquorice, fried food, cheese, ice cream(basically everything you like lol) is a no-go. Citrus fruits usually arent a good idea. Try removing those foods from your diet and eat before 8 and see how your body reacts. Also drink a lot of water, all day every day, yup...every bowl gets a cup of water to drink haha. Adjusting the food wont help 100% but you will be surprised how much a roll it plays with your health. GO TO THE DOC MAN!
