After talking to another patient (Knottyone) I decided that a Support Group for crohn's patients would be awesome. But then i thought, why just crohns? lets invite our friends Ulceritive Colitis, IBD, and IBS and any other chronic GI problems.
We as patients could get together, not sure where yet maybe a club, share our experiences, share some food (after finding out what everyone can safely eat of course), share some meds, and share new ways to fight our chronic illness with other natural healing alternatives.
Nothing is set in stone right now, just want some opinions!
Sounds good to me! :)

Re: Crohn's Disease MMJ Support Group (IBD, IBS, Ulceritive Colitis Too)

I use medical cannabis for anxiety/ocd/hypochondriasis. IBS runs in the family, and lately I have had the good fortune of confronting the issue. There is a high coocurrence of OCD and IBS, researchers have found. My doctor prescribed me Myralax, and it is working well. I just picked up a book that deals with the first year of diagnosis. The trouble I am having is that I am a vegetarian-more like Vegan-, but many of the foods I am used to eating and enojoy eating are difficult to digest. Help! What foods do you find soft/easy to digest?

I would really reccomend trying to incorporate some fish or at least fish oils into your diet.
Also keeping a food journal, as lame and boring as it sounds can really help you get a laser beam focus on what ingredients make you feel real sick and what doesnt. This can make a huge difference in your life.
Leaving your favorite foods behind can be quite an emotional experience suprisingly. I know I used to eat to celebrate, to mourn, to pass time, just whatever. But fighting food temptations and sticking to what your body likes to work with can really make the difference between a shitty week (NO PUN INTENDED ) and a good week.

take care and good luck!
yea i agree with the fish oils fer sure, Ive also thought about keeping a food journal for a while now....great post!

Hume - as far as foods u can i eat, i know its tough being a vegetarian as I loved to eat raw fruit and veg, u every just eat steamed vegetables?

Fish Oil as a supplement? Or for cooking? I don't eat fish currently, but I do take Beano occasionally, and that has fish product in it. I'm considering eating fish again, but it will be hard to do so. Thanks for the suggestion on the journal. I eat a lot of tofu. How do people do with tofu? Also, in terms of beans ... Are white beans ok, or at least better than red ones? The book, by the way, is titled "A Patient-Expert Walks You Through Everything You Need to Learn and Do-The First Year of IBS". Anyone read it? Thanks! Hume

Re: Crohn's Disease MMJ Support Group (IBD, IBS, Ulceritive Colitis Too)

Any other Crohn's sufferers find that Indica's act like Sativas to them and vice versa. Every day is opposite day, at least for me. I wish my intestines would cooperate.

Also, I would be so down with a support group. Just tell me when and where. I don't get out much, so it would certainly be a treat.

yo, you should start takin fish oil capsules, they are pretty much tasteless, and ive found the best ones at Whoole Foods Market (where i go at least once a day) they are a good source of omega 3s - so is flax seed oil and i take them both together and have had good results.....just take it with a bit of food because for me at least sometimes i burp up the fish oil and its naaaasty, but well worth it imo...

as far as a support group, what do people think about having it on the westside?

Count me in! I have been going to a support group for the ccfa for a couple of years now, but I haven't been able to make it the last 6-7 months because of work. I have always wanted to bring up MMJ there but never have, so a group that is mmj friendly and about IBD's sounds great. I am in OC and would have no problem making the drive for this.

its rare us crohns patients get to partake in potlucks, so having a crohns friendly pot luck would just be the shit!
Carpool would be great, and the potluck sounds awesome!

Yeah i've been living with Crohn's since I was 4. MMJ helps with digesting food and has actually kept me out of the hospital before. Never tried fish oil...thanks for the suggestion.

I have crohns, reliable transport... would definitely like to meet with others w/ the same problem.

eclecticreason: yes the way people describe sats is the way indicas usually hit me (heavy body). I usually stick to indica because i believe they have more cbn which helps w/ the cbn receptors in your lower gi tract
