Rep Power: 88 | Re: crohns disease i would go with a strong indica like blue thunder or pez since it has more of a calming effect. sativas will only increase your thinking and if ur already in pain this will cause u to become paranoid |

Rep Power: 18 | Re: crohns disease I agree about the sativas, they seem to be better for body aches and pains for me, they also can act as a muscle relaxer for me which is why they might be helpful for yr crohn's. also, have you tried eliminating white flour products from yr diet? You might find that somewhat helpful as well. good luck!... and feel better! |

| Re: crohns disease I haven't tried doing that entirely. Can you give me more info on that? I go thru phases with bread. One week I'll eat toast, then for 2 months I might not eat bread again. I also don't really eat very much meat. I can't digest the stuff and I have issues with ground meat. Plus I really don't like chicken. Once in a blue moon I will eat some but not often. I use lactaid milk, can't tolerate regular dairy. Thanks. |

Rep Power: 0 | I've replaced my stomach meds by making sure to smoke plenty of Kush to keep my stomach calm. Kush's genetics tend to work the best for my severe IBS. Especially purple kush's such as grape kush, purple kush- etc... don't know if that helps at all...... |

Rep Power: 18 | Re: crohns disease well, let's see. At various points in my life I've been diagnosed with IBS and colitis, not Crohn's, so I don't know if this will help you. Personally I think the doctors sometimes sling diseases and diagnoses around like hash browns when they can't really say for sure what's going on. I think I have some sort of gluten sensitivity and when i eliminated all white flour products from my diet the problem cleared up like magic. And it wasn't any doctor who suggested I do this. It was pure desperation on my part. It was a real shocker. I can't believe I suffered with such pain and cramps almost every night of my life for so long when there was such an easy solution (well, easy cept for the giving up bagels part). Of course I don't know if this will work for you, but it's certainly worth a try. I completely gave up eating white rice, white bread (like bread in restuarants, on sandwiches), even bagels (my favorite food group lol), pasta, even white potatos (only eat yams now). I've been eating like this for almost 2 yrs now and I haven't had a re-ocurrance. A miracle. Now I only eat brown rice, oatmeal for breakfast, whole grains whenever possible, no more fried food. For protein I eat more grilled fish & chicken than anything else, thos I love veggie burgers and am getting to like turkey burgers (whole grain whole wheat bread only). I also cook with mm and I find that really helps as a muscle relaxer so sometimes it can also help me sleep. I do have a latte everyday, made with non-fat milk, but that's all the milk I usually have, about 1/4 cup/day. I don't usually like much milk but that amount doesn't seem to bother me. Controlling your diet like this is hard for anyone, but especially if you don't like to cook, or need to eat fast food for some reason. It might not work for you, but if you can try it it's certainly worth a shot if you're in alot of pain. and as sugarmeds mentioned there are some strains that might be more efficient for your particular problem. I keep hearing that from people but so far it hasn't been successful for me, so perhaps I'll give the purple kush a try myself . Quote:

Rep Power: 88 | thanx for all the info, much appreciated... I have a friend who recommended a product for superior health called blue green algae..it's a great way to stay healthy and fight off diseases, its also filled with tons of vitamins, green foods and amino acids needed for proper brain functioning...not only can these products prolong life but can also fight adhd/add and any other disease known to man...i have been taking these products for quiet some time now and have found my chrons symptoms of nausea, stomach cramping, fevers, etc....gone and not returning..so here is the web site to purchase these products www.celltech.com p.s i recommend u start off by purchasing the original essentials, it takes a while for ur body to ajust to the algae so give it a few weeks before the product really starts to work .......... |

Rep Power: 18 | Re: crohns disease yeah, good point about food supplements. Every day I take 16 food supplements & vitamins that also help various things I've got wrong. In the past 've tried the blue-green algae & the kambucha mushroom tea (which I had growing in this big bowl, lol!), but not recently. Food supplements like this can be very expensive. Now I drink green tea whenever I can force myself (not a tea drinker), because it's also supposed to have all sorts of healing properties too. The products on that site look very expensive to me, especially when you have to taka them every day. That could be very prohibitive for people. But, of course, if it works, thats' really what counts. Since I'm controlling my stomach prob w diet I don't think I'll try it. OTOH if they had something that could help the constant pain I'm in I would try that in a NY minute! The most effective food supplement I take that really does help me is MSM. I posted about it here at Maladies & Remedies a while back if interested. you're lucky you found something that works for you! Quote:

Rep Power: 0 | Re: crohns disease If you have Crohns or IBS or any form of Bowel Disease- it's a good idea to stay away from any kind of ingestible herbal supplement- you don't want to add insult to injury- and many things can irritate the ligning of the stomach- that's one of the reasons smoking works so well- it's a way to medicate without ingesting AND yes I have smoked while taking stomach meds- it was not fun- made me really dizzy- I suggest trying to skip the pill and smoke some very potent Indica (on a day you're staying home) just to be safe... lol The right buds can have very similar effects to the prescription (bentyl), which is why it only compounds the dizzy weak feeling of stomach pills. |

| Re: crohns disease i smoke while on meds.makes me a lil goofier as well. it just depends on what the med is now if i will smoke with it or not. as for the diet. thanks for all the info. i basically eat that way now as for things to avoid. i just really dont eat much bread, cant eat pasta of any form, and have major issues with rice, doesnt matter what color i can't even stand to see the stuff. its a struggle trying to find things to eat. i have a tendancy to just drink ensure. |

Rep Power: 134 | Re: crohns disease i also suffer from "ibs" with some vagus nerve spams. i changed my diet too. stop eating land meats. now i eat a pescatarian diet. this has helped sooooo much in my problems. also dont drink alcohol. stop using a lot of different spices like pepper(favorite). you might also want to eat smaller (and more often) meals . as for the cannabis going with a good indica has been a winner for me. i have also found that eating it helps a lot too. |

Rep Power: 215 | Re: crohns disease I've read quite a few sources that recommend eating Coconut Macaroons to alleviate some symptoms. Mostly issues with diarrhea. One of my best friend's mother has had Crohns for a long, long time and finds some relief eating Archway Coconut Macaroons. http://www.healthcentral.com/peoples...408/23094.html http://www.coconutdiet.com/digestive_disorders.htm Do a google search on coconut macaroons crohn's disease. I hear Coconut Oil has as many benefits as Olive Oil (so long as it's not heated. Heating oil oxidizes most of the nutrients) I've had some IBS symptoms most of my life, and I have found that my mostly vegan diet has brought much relief. Another thing I've found helpful are acidophilos supplements. They keep me very "regular". -D |
