Great info I learned a few things that I should have known when I have been pulled over before.

Re: BUSTED: The Citizen's Guide to Surviving Police Encounters

Okay, all kidding aside and more importantly to be on-topic, I own this DVD and my question to you, Referee4, is this...under the pressure of the situation with "the man" breathing down your neck, are you gonna be able to follow their advise. I hope I can.

You know what I haven't done is watch it again since the first once or twice. I know they say to regularly watch it and keep it "fresh" but to be totally honest I haven't. Perhaps this weekend. Wish they had a follow up on what to do in the situation of a raid of a dispensary both from the stand point of the patient or operator inside and the protestors outside. That would be invaluable.

Good thread. Important stuff, Ref, as usual. Referee4 keeps it real for the people. Important info, always. Muchos Gracias!

Hahahah.... The officer in the first scenario says the car smells like bob marley's ass. I thought that office was very funny.

All joking aside

I think you bring up a good point and I would like to see an event organized where we can watch this DVD and/or practice exercising our rights to a pretend Officicer who is being less than gentleman like. Giving patients a chance to physical practice and remember these important key points.

"I respectfully exercise my rights"

"I am I being detained, Sir?"

"I am free to go, officer"

"I do not consent to a search"

"I'm I required to answer that question?"

"I'm I entitled to council?"

"Thank you, Have a great day"

Yeah, right? Role playing in a realistic situation like you mentioned where the
"officer" involved would push it to worse case scenerio. This would be extremely helpful, I think.

But where and how?

I'm thinking we can ask the LA card center where ASA holds their meetings. And I am thinking we can also ask a ACLU person to come and speak to us. And maybe someone from Law enforcement for sensible drug policy (or whatever that groups called). I think this really needs to happen for the goodness of our community. I hate to see misinformation keep people scared of protecting their rights.

Yeah, ya know the other day I was talking to Don Duncan about us having a raid training workshop rescheduled since the one we were supposed to have in March didn't happen as Rebecca Saltzman couldn't make it. The next ASA meeting is on the 21st of this month. If you are available perhaps you can bring this up. That way I won't be the only one pestering Don! LOL! It's a good idea though and one no ones ever talked about. One on one encounters between LEO and MMJ Patient. Just think Don is swamped right now but maybe he'll green light someone, maybe even us to put it together.

Anyway, something to think about when time permits, huh? Great idea, though.
