Rep Power: 18776       | Bryn Anderson and Paul Shaw Swept Up In Dawn Raid - Need Court Support Monday Early on Thursday morning, July 2, 2009, Bryn Anderson and Paul Shaw were taken into custody when a dawn invasion by probation officers and the LAPD swept through Bryn Anderson's apartment. Ten officers swept through the entire building, apparently looking for persons unrelated to Bryn or Paul. The only alleged violation is that Anderson and Shaw were in proximity to each other. Bryn and Paul have spent a long, grim holiday weekend in Parker Center as there is no bail. And depending on how their hearing goes Monday, they may face more time. Their hearing is Monday, details are below. I know it's short notice but if any of you can make the hearing, I know it would mean the world to Bryn and Paul. That explains why I couldn't reach pauly this weekend :( HPRC, the terms of their probation says they can't congregate together, even casually. This sucks. These guys were trying to help a lot of patients when they got busted a few years ago in the infamous "azuza pot factory raid". Just 2 very nice people that were trying to lower costs. I'm getting up early and going out to the IE. This is crazy. |

Just an alleged probation violation. We will post here as soon as we get back from the hearing. My heart goes out to Paul and Bryn, they were pursuing their activism, exercising their free speech rights and engaging in nothing illegal. |

On 7/23, the probation department will make their report to the court and present their decision as to what the punishment will be. The good news is that Bryn's probation officer is a very reasonable man, and Bryn has been in no previous trouble. We are hoping for time served, but this is by no means the only thing that could happen, both men may be facing time in state prison. Any messages of support or encouragement you post here will be printed out and sent to Paul and Bryn. |

If you would like to visit, call 213-473-6100 and give the officer who answers the phone the booking numbers attached to each name below. They can give you information about visiting. The booking numbers for Paul and Bryn must be on the envelope under their names and you must put a return address on the envelope. Letters are opened and read before being given to the prisoner, and their response back to you are read by the prison before being sent to you. When you write, contraband, pictures of contraband (pot leaves are considered contraband) and pornographic images are not allowed. Bryn is keeping careful track of everything he sees inside and plans to write about it, I sure any letters you get from him will be real eye openers. Paul is badly shaken and could use some words of cheer.
