Farm Report-Meeting #1 of East Los Angeles contingent for "Oct. 6, 2008" protest

On Sunday, August 24th, we had our first meeting of the East Los Angeles contingent for the Oct 6th protest to free Charles Lynch!

While only a small number of us could show on such short notice, we still managed to lay the preliminary groundwork for our east side “plan of attack”.

The meeting was attended by a number of “Trackers” including “EvilStevo”, “ZebraSmoke” (who generously volunteered his place for the meeting!) and myself, sans Bessie. The “think tank”, as “Z” called us. More like Vape-tank, but hey…Dr.s orders! We were also joined by some non-tracker artist/activist’s who have lent their time, energy, and instincts to this project. Respect and thanks to Big O. and Master R. You guys rock!

We settled in, after some preliminary medicating via “Z’s” homemade vape set up. PM ZebraSmoke and and ask about this rig. Crazy.

Anyway, we started off by taking roll call. Since there wasn’t many of us, it went quickly.

After that we launched into a round table discussion regarding what our own personal east side favs were. We talked about our different connections to the east side dispensaries. We began creating a list of the area dispensaries. What we weren’t able to come up with on our own, we were able to, aided by WT. By the end we had ourselves a list of thirteen dispensaries, which we then proceeded to “split up”. We all have a list we will be dealing with this week. We’re gonna take care of the final touches on the poster and flyer we’ve been distributing, then hit the pavement and shake some east side hands! Now we have a game plan. Get out and spread the gospel of Charlie L.!

We also discussed another poster/flyer design with Big O and Master R., so we may have that to distribute soon. Right now we have the one the Herbalicious-ness and Happy Jack designed and the one that ZebraSmoke and Master R. put together. We’d love other artist to lend their designs to this protest. ZebraSmoke and I were talking ‘bout it and think it’d be cool to have like six or so more different designs for poster/flyers. Any artists interested should get a hold of us or just go for it and create!!! We feel the more designs representing the protest, the more people we might appeal to and draw in.

We also talked about how we were gonna approach the canvassing of the owners and how we need to present this important issue to these individuals. We feel that the owners/operators should feel they have the most at stake as far as this protest goes. YES, WE ALL HAVE SOMETHING AT STAKE HERE, but the owner/operators, like Charles Lynch, have the most at stake. In the bigger picture, we ALL have a lot at stake. Our group discussed it and we all feel responsible for spreading the word of this protest to as many of the east side as possible. We’re all gonna do our best to get as many east siders out to this protest as possible! Yea! East side! Represent!

By the end of the meeting we had our “starter” lists, made a plan for the coming week, and discussed a couple of other items such as the poster/flyers and the upcoming HempExpo. So much going on! It’s exciting and feels good to be part of this. These are the types of activities within a movement like ours that lead to big change but it isn’t going to happen unless we ALL pitch in! Please find a way, dear reader, to help pitch in. In whatever way you can.

Our next meeting promises to hold even greater numbers! We’ll be reconvening on Sunday, August 31st @ 5:30pm. All are welcome! Hopefully such east side WTrs as Dr. Seuscio can join us. I tried to get the good Dr. there but he was busy hanging with the bicycle kids. Whatever. Hee Hee. LOL, My favorite MD!

We’ll be discussing other items like incentives the dispensaries could offer patients to attend on Oct. 6th. We started talking about it but nothing really came of this discussion. I personally feel attending this is my responsibility as a patient and advocate so it pushes my buttons a little that people have to be coax into participating but whatever it takes, I guess. If anyone wants to join us next week and discuss this perhaps we can come up with a plan. We need your input right now, dear reader. You are part of a community which is under fire from a federal enemy which has the power to crush us. They could do it and in my opinion, are in the process of doing it now. Look around and decide how much you have invested in this movement. The time is now to rise up and take action. Without your participation, the laws will not get changed.

Without your involvement, the feds will continue to lock up good people like Charles Lynch and Mickey Martin. Your favorite owner could be next. What will it take for you to take a vested interest in this movement?

It is, after all, history in the making.

Thanks for reading along,
Farmer

Thank you so much for writing this report. I wish I could have driven to the east side for this but I was filming a documentary on santa monica beach (a patient profile piece with activism and charles lynch info)

I'm going to set a westside meeting for when I come back...I found a perfect place. I'll keep you updated.

we should have a poster designing contest and the people and WT can vote for their favorite poster and the winner can get some sort of prize
