Oct 6, 2008 is exactly 2 month from today. I'm going to try to post ONE activity daily patients and caregivers can do to help. Today's ACTION ITEM:

Call your House of Representative.

If you do NOT know who your Rep is, well go to www.house.gov and put your Zip + 4 in the upper left hand corner.

Sample script:

I am calling you today to ask that __________________(name of rep) cosponsor H.R. 5843, the Act to Remove Federal Penalties for the Personal Use of Marijuana by Responsible Adults. And to support John Conyers Letter, dated April 29, to the DEA. And to inform you that Charles Lynch, a medical marijuana dispensary owner was found guilty of 5 cannabis-only Federal charges even he followed all city, county and state laws. He faces 25-100 years in Federal prison for helping patients just like me.

I'm calling my rep right now. I'm also going to make an appointment.

TELL US HOW IT WENT

I called my rep and I have an appointment on 8/20.

There were over 40 patients who were upset by the Charles Lynch verdict. They wanted cry, vomit, kill, etc. Their hearts hurt, their minds ached, their anger raged, etc. Yet there was ONLY one other response to this action thread.

If you want to protect people like Charles Lynch and yourself. The LAW HAS TO CHANGE and LAWS CHANGE in Congress.

When Congress does NOT hear from its constituents and ONLY HEARS FROM THE DEA and other ANTI-DRUG FEDERAL GROUPS they truly believe cannabis is as bad as they are told and they BELIEVE their constituents feel the same way because they have NOT heard any different from ANYONE.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE if you really want things to change you have to let our voice be heard by the right people. IF EVERYONE ON WT called their House of Representative (HOR) and left a message our movement would have power.

PICK UP THE PHONE and tell your Congressperson how you feel about medical cannabis. Encourage them to support John Conyers and Barney Frank. Tell them about Charles Lynch.

IF YOU DO NOT you do NOT have the right to get upset and bitch about it. PERIOD.

By the end of today, I'd like to hear from some patients who HAVE called their HOR.

Why isn't there a banner on weedtracker yet? C'mon guys get it up the sooner its up the more people will come. Please put one up on the front page above all the marketing. Please as I have said set aside the petty quibbling and make this protest huge. I am begging you to put up a banner as soon as possible.

WTer, the OWNER of this website IS VERY SUPPORTIVE. The reason there is NO banner yet is because we're still organizing and confirming dates, times, and such with Charles Lynch and his lawyers. WT has offered to buy us 4,000 postcards for the event. We are very appreciative of WT and his support.

I called Congressman Howard Berman's office.
I spoke to a staff member that was quite friendly, but really didn't have many answers for me, however, my request to back the Barney Frank Bill, support Conyers, and step up to the plate, and demand a stop to the DEA raids on 'Legal' Medical Marijuana Dispensaries, will be passed on to Berman.
