Question regarding bone cancer?

I have friend who has a MMJ rec, who is a care taker for an eldery for the past 3yrs. And her pt just got dignoas with bone caner, but the pt is over 80yrs old, and it is to late to undergo chemo or radiation due to the age. The lady she is taking care of only has less then a year to go.She is intrested in helping her get a MMJ rec or be a caregiver for her. My friend tells me that the lady is in so much pain and she doesn't know how to help. Pain killers are not helping her cope with pain

My friend said it it is so hard to see the lady on a everyday base, because it is painful to see her in pain.

How should I asst. my friend to help the lady.

Ya I just 'learned' what "old" was when my doc said "well your young" and it didn't make any sence because I'm 59 1/2 ...

He said "75 is the cut off for old age when it comes to cancer, beyond that its ..."

----------
As to helping her MMJ may really help her, but #1 is to get her a REC. USALLY her own MD will give it to her. Most onincologiests are aware of the releaf MMJ brings where nothing else will work. For an 80 yo woman with termainal bone cancer, thats the ONLY type that many MD's would write for. (or Aids or MS) ... they feel 'safe' and 'justified' in writing rec's for that 'dangrious' drug MMJ for patients only like that.

When you (or your friend) goes to TALK to the lady or her MD about this - its best to have some SUPPORT on "How To" write a recomendations - because if they haven't before SOMETIMES they get put off - and not knowing -

Some will just write it on a reg_ Rx tabliet - which is fine - and write "Medical Marijuanna Bone Cancer"

Mine is like that but says "Lymphoma"

One of the great things you can do to support the MD and the patient, is by getting them your COUNTY / STATE form for MD's (or staff) to sign. I belive its here: Medical Marijuana Program:
http://www.cdph.ca.gov/programs/MMP/Pages/default.aspx

Yup just scroll down under:
"Program Information"
Click on "FORMS"
http://www.cdph.ca.gov/pubsforms/for...naProgram.aspx

Scroll down to almost the last entry on this LIST OF FORMS to ...
CDPH 9044
Written Documentation of Patient's Medical Records

(they have an English or Spanish)
Here's the English verison =
http://www.cdph.ca.gov/pubsforms/for...s/cdph9044.pdf

Print that out - and ALL the MD has to sign is the BOTTOM LINE

*OR* "physican staff' ---

all the Doc or his staff have to do is sign and date that line -

For Doc's that are un-neved by the idea of writing a rec_ or have never done it before - this is a GREAT WAY to introduce the idea - and also is a STATE FORM so its NOT like its illegal or anything weird.

Hope that is of some help --- I've found, in many cases, that using the STATE FORM gets MD's who have anxity about writing to do it easily. You can have your freind just drop it by the MD's office or what ever. its a STATE FORM so its not weird or any 'hippy trippy' thing -

Just like CANCER isn't any thing to 'fool around with' either!

Hope this is some help -

Also older patients who NEVER had MJ / MMJ before are really not used to it and it can cause anxity and disorentation in them. They also often have preconsived ideas about how they can get 'hooked' on it -

(which is funny in a werid way because often they are addicted to tons of much worst drugs that they and the medical profession have no problem giving out like candy)

Anyway ... edables are a great way to start and VERY LITTLE - start SLOW with VERY SMALL dosages - its called 'Titration" which is finding out the smallest amount of a substance that it will efect a change. They can always use more - untill they find out the right amout for them selves, IE Self Titration ...

Again hope this is of some help.

yours,

Thank you for your info. I really do appreciated the helpful website. I know it is hard, I have cancer but it is listed as carcinod, I guess as cancer pt's we all need to stick together and get help from one another.

Much love to you, and once again Thank You.
