Rep Power: 117 | An offer for ALL Cancer patients A close friend of mine recently died from cancer. To ease the symptoms of chemo, he had gotten a medical marijuana card. Although vaporizers drastically reduce the amount of smoke it delivers to the lungs, it still DID deliver smoke to his lungs. It sucked. He ALWAYS loved to eat my food. I'd bring over some food for him right after he'd eaten, and he'd STILL eat. It was awesome. It brought this chef much joy when someone who had eaten his fill wanted to eat more just because I made it. "Ethnic and tasty" he used to say. THAT was funny. Spaghetti and meatballs "Ethnic and tasty". Hilarious. He had the heart of an angel. Now he would say "I'm sorry...just not hungry today". Broke my freaking heart. Who the hell says they're not hungry for a whole day? Cancer patients, that's who. So then I found out about "edibles". I read all sorts of the science behind nutrition, cannabinoid delivery, THC solubility, retention, etc, ad nauseum. I told him I was going to become his personal marijuana chef. So the hard part was the FIRST meal. I KNEW I'd have to make something small enough that he would eat, but complex enough so that the taste of the marijuana didn't bother him. I asked him what he would eat. "Anything!", I said. "Just name anything...and I'll make it for you". "Turkey sandwich". What the hell?!?!? How the hell am I going to do this??? It took me 4 days to figure it out and make it. A loaf of marijuana bread, some freshly sliced turkey breast...and the Pièce de résistance...my own marijuana mayo. "GROSS!". First thing that crossed my mind, when I thought about it. I figured out what part of the mayo I would infuse the THC into, then spiced it up with my own spice blend. Taste....GOOD. On a scale from 1-10...10 being real mayo, it tasted like an 8. PRETTY DAMN GOOD!!! The bread was easy, the turkey was already there, put on some tomatoes and peppers, BAM...ALL done. So I presented it to him...and getting him to eat the most solid thing he had eaten in weeks took about 2 hours. He finally did it though. Finished it all. Great. I came back the next day to make him another one, when I found out he finished half the loaf of bread, most of the turkey, and a good portion of the mayo. Then started a beautiful relationship of me making him ALL sorts of meals. He loved it because he really did love eating. I loved it because I had someone to say great things about my cooking. Kind words REALLY do make a difference. So yeah...we both won. We both felt better, and thats what a mutually beneficial relationship feels like. He died two weeks ago. Sometimes, I still wake up in the morning thinking about making something for him. I finally get a hold of reality by the time I pick up my toothbrush. THAT is when it hurts. Damn. So yeah...if there is ANYONE that has a valid presciption, and needs to put on weight, please contact me. I'm not trying to make money. NOT AT ALL. It just makes me feel better when I can make others feel better. And you'll feel better since you are making me feel better. I've never even smoked marijuana, but I know the power of "edibles". Yeah, marijuana does help. Maybe it won't save your life...but it will drastically improve the quality of your life. Good luck everybody. Take care of yourselves. And please PM me if you need a personal chef to get you to start eating. |

I have some fellow Patients that I do stuff with that are young and have different types of cancer, I do what I can to help them and have started doing some baking with the butter I make and give them brownies..I am in no way a chef but want to help them with their food intake.. I would like to ask them about having you do some cooking for them, I think it would help improve there quality of life!! Keep doing what your doing the reward you get will come from the friendships you make and the lasting impression you put on peoples hearts...Thanks for this great post and I can only strive to be as compassionate as you!! May the Great Father bless your days and life!! |

Yes, I also enjoy making people feel better, usually by making them laugh, but for you to open yourself up to strangers and offer help like this puts you several levels above me. Thanks for the inspiration, I obviously have to make more of an effort. |
