Rep Power: 123 | Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma- Advice for a Friend A very old and dear friend was recently diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma but they are still trying to figure out which of the many types he has (some horrible and some less than horrible) He started chemo this week and is already sick. I need advice for my friend on what types of MMJ people have found helpful in dealing with chemo so I can pass this along as he will be very new to the MMJ community. He is the nicest person you would ever want to meet, a musician who was well known among studio types some time ago. Aside from why bad things seem to happen to good people (a question to which I have no answers), I would appreciate any advice that anybody can take the time to share, so I can help my friend through this ordeal. A big thanks! |

Tinctures will likely be the best acting as opposed to smoking or eating; chemo/radiation compromises your cardiopulmonary system and immune system, and smoking may lead to infection/bronchial problems. Ingestion of edibles is not a good idea for people undergoing such therapy due to inhibited digestive response brought about by the chemo/radiation, plus they may just barf it up HOWEVER (note caps), it would be best to combine them with an anti-nausea medication such as Kytril or phenergan. Kytril is really kick@ss and doesn't have the sleepiness and dry mouth side effects that phenergan does. My SO is an oncology specialist and Kytril is now what is most prescribed for stubborn cases of chemo/radiation induced nausea. |

I was diagnosed in 1996 right when things were becoming good for us patients when it comes to things. Anyway, Kytril wasn't invented yet and Zophran was a horse pill I couldn't keep down. As for the type of MMJ, for nausea and chemo I used the strongest indica I could find. Excellent to use some hash to sprinkle on top of your flowers to aid with the medicinal effects. My chemo regimens were:ABVD,MOPP,COPP,ESHAP. When Kytril was released it made things much better for me. As therapy side effects though you have to incorporate anti nausea meds, pain meds, and the MMJ. I never had just one offer the proper relief in full, alaways a comnination. Crazy disease to fight and harsh chemotherapy. |
