Rep Power: 42766 | Hey Men, this is for you! I wanted to share with everyone that my testicular cancer results came back as a big negative! Now, for all you guys out there. I have been doing a self examination on myself for over 15 years. The reason is, my best friend's wife found his lump 16 years ago while doing.. use your imagination, and now he his living today, minus 1 teste, but alive. He did not detect it early, because he did not do self exams! Its easy to do, go here...http://www.acor.org/TCRC/tcexam.html Or your significant other can do it for you also But what is important here is it is very curable if detected early, and thats the easy part. So men, be a real man and start doing it! My test were easy, my self exam, the doctors exam, the blood and urine test, and ultra-sound. Thats it! So, please guys, do the exam! Its pretty much painless! Testicular cancer strikes men typically from 14 years of age through 35. But can strike at any age! BTW, while at the doctor, don't forget the prostrate. P.S. Thank you everyone for the kind words and encouragement! Last edited by gopers; 12-04-2008 at 10:47 AM.. |

Rep Power: 20570 | Re: Hey Men, this is for you! Glad to hear you got good results back... sweating the lab results is never any fun... My best friend from childhood developed testicular cancer at about age 33... his wife discovered it...(uhmm she actually is a nurse, but not sure that had anything to do with it...), he had a round of tests, surgery, and has not had ANY trouble since. Hell, he even has a new son, SINCE....that son is now a freshman in college. So, self exams, Dr. checkups, they really CAN make a big difference. ... it is now coming up on SEVEN years since my prostate cancer was found. It hasnt been easy, and it hasnt been fun, but I am still here, and at least for now I am cancer free again. There are a zillion kinds of cancer... none of them are fun, but MANY of them can now be easily be beaten, and most of the ones we cant yet beat, we can slow WAY down. Get tested folks, do yourself a favor. |

I had no symptoms at all, but I was 49, and my Kaiser doctor was retiring... so, he told me that since I was near 50, and Kaiser usually did a routine PSA at 50, he would do it before he retired, just to make sure it didnt get missed while I was settling on a "new" Doc.... My first PSA came back at 14.9..... (should have been about 3 or less) second was 16... ordered the finger wave... which the urologist said was "unremarkable"... meaning he found NOTHING... but he said, "hey you're here, lets go ahead and do the biopsy and be CERTAIN." Cancer was found in 10 out of 10 samples he took that day. Surgery followed... cancer returned... radiation/chemo/hormone treatments.... and so far... so good.... no sign of active cancer. Prostate cancer shouldnt kill any more men.... it is very detectable, and unlike many cancers, it USUALLY can be dealt with by surgery, or radiation with a pretty "livable" set of side effects... and be honest guys.... you know damn well your Doctor probably hates doing the finger wave even more than you hate getting one.... (if he doesnt, you may need a new Doc)... And if you are having any blood work done, they can do the PSA screening test for next to no money... | |
