Here is our story : We moved out here w/our family (Husband,Wife, 2 yr old twins) and 4 male friends. We rented a house that was big enough to accommodate us all ($2,000/mo; $500 room) which is great. Well, after a "20 day vacation", 3 of those 4 "friends" decided they couldn't handle it and moved back, even after we bought them food and put off giving our children diapers for a few days until they could "pay" us back. Well, needless to say, we didn't get a dime for ANYTHING! My wife has been applying for jobs since we got here and still nothing, even with a B.A. and 7 yrs experience in the law field. Daycare expenses are a totally different issue ($1,600-1,800/mo for twins). We are barely making enough to pay for utilities and gas for the 1994 van we have, which thankfully runs like a dream!! We just had enough money to move before December 26th, but January's rent was due the 1st and we are now facing eviction. We are trying to qualify for assistance but that could take up to 30 days AND to top it all off, My wife at 34 has to have a a DOUBLE MASTECTOMY due to the fact she has Lobular Carcinoma, an invasive cancer if not treated could spread to her other major organs. We are behind on our utilities and looking for assistance programs to help those costs as well. My wife is going on Monday to apply for SSI and I am applying for Unemployment.
