Rep Power: 538 | Not sure where to post this, but as most of you have heard, the Fish Oil supplements are contaminated with trace amounts of mercury. For cancer patients, this is bad! I found out about the DHA supplement, 200 mg, that you can pick up in the pregnancy section at any drug store! For example, when my cat with Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma was given 2 weeks for it being so advanced already, with proper nutrition, that, and painkillers, we kept her happy and healthy for almost 4 months (looong time for cats, btw). The pamplet they gave me for her, was based on Breast Cancer studies in women, and how the DHA actually helped to shrink the tumor! I'm a 19 year survivor of Cervical Cancer, which I had two horrifying surgeries, and Chemo over two years (first round of everything failed). I almost had my guts removed, but my body turned around; I was scared, I did research, and got the latest treatments, and try to eat unprocessed foods (I'm not perfect there, either). I personally feel that you should never blame a person for getting cancer - that's one of my BIGGEST pet peeves! No one eats a perfect diet, and to blame a victim galls me. I see so often, especially while my cat was being treated early on, "Well, if you don't do what I say exactly, then you asked for it to grow." BULL! Cancer is fickle; we can only do our best, and take it to heart that we fight the good fight. I will only add, because of my fight with cancer, and only one backslide, I do have empathy for others with C, even our precious fur children. Compassion is what it's all about, not blame, you know! I've never known of a C patient, who just sat down and died. If anyone scoffs at what we all try, I personally imagined in the past, giving them a black eye - not for real, but I wanted too, you know! Then I laugh at them. We all are working on a project: Life, to get well. Positive thought is what does help, but you can't help but feel helpless at times - we all do, we are human. Cry, let it out, and then smile - because you are here, and you are cared for, and most of all, you are loved. Touching others' lives, that's one of the biggest gifts we all give to each other, each and every day - even on here, where we can't see each other in person. YOU ARE NOT ALONE in your battle, know that, hold that thought when you are scared, because we all do get scared. Much Absynthe |
