Seriously, we need California to secede from the USA. We could legalize marijuana, and import our fantastic high grade all over the world, including back into the USA. California would be rich.

how about a marijuana equlization act? that would work for me. put it on par with booze. maybe some smart lawyer out there could get hold of m.p.p and get a grant to get something going in '08.

Hehe...I joke about this alot. I've read California is the 5th largest economy in the world and accounts for roughly 30% of the United States economy.
We only need to set up some kick-ass de-salinization plants so we aren't bound by the Colorado River supplying half the states water, but its totally feasible. Plant HEMP everywhere...etc.

Remember in the 1860's several states tried this (Succession), because they were tired of the U.S. Goverment. That caused the bloodiest war in US history..

unfortunately ,our government was less than 85 yrs. old ... US civil war was 2 rival 'war of independance' '76 ... I would love to be able to run a state that I can just allow all Canna to be part of daily life. You know how, you think of how the world would be, if all the people were the same as yourself/myself? No cops, no persecution..sounds like kingdom come...lol

the quality of life would be so much better. for me at least because i know if i could medicate all day id be much happier. unfortunately i dont have a job that i can medicate at.

Actually if the State of California was to secede from the USA, you wouldn't like it in todays Political enviroment...

(Take this with a grain of Salt.. It's Mostly "Tongue in Cheek" with a little Political Science thrown in)

1. You lose ALL rights Guaranteed by the Constitution.. Including Right to Free Speech, Assembly, & Religion. Not to mention Pursuit of Happiness.

2. As citizens of a New Nation you would on a Terrorist watch list throughout the world. Your New Passport would not be Valid anywhere until your Country's existence is acknowledged by the United Nations Council.

3. The 5th Largest economy in the world based on What?
GDP (Gross Domestic Product)? Doubtful..
Revenue generated Via the Entertainment industry? Probably.

(Now you are a Single country with a Movie/Music industry.. Now you have to negotiate distribution rights to the other 49 states and territories. Revenues generated in Phoenix would not apply to the State's Bottom Line, therefore killing off the industry's numbers and lowering the Republic of California's standings as a world economic power. A LOT of The Money numbers are generated for California outside the state.)

4. Immigration Safeguards would be non existent on our borders..

Who wants LA flooded by a bunch of Frost backed Oregonians or Washingtonites flooding down from the northern border, Just for our Medical Marijuana. (it's A Joke People).

5.California is a Major Shipping and Refinery port..

You think the USA will allow us to stop 30% of the Oil Imports because the Tanker Docks are on our property?... You will see the largest use of "Imminent Domain" since the invention of the word.. Guarantee US Troops will be moved onto California soil to protect US assets and investments. You think growing outdoors is a bitch now..Wait until the Army gets involved in Drug Eradication.
