ta ever read a good novel?? the wife suggested i brush up on my reading,brush up!! haha any way she came home from work, and hell iwas reeding! she asked me what i was doning!! i told her hell iav reeding a novel!! she said i must be over medicated!! that a fukn phone book!!to me the phone book is very noval,and the S.O.B is huge like ten vovel for the price of ont!! the yellow page part is real kool ! alot of picturez! but in the other section i found names like IMMA BUDD, DR.BUTCHER heres one WILLIAM HEAD this one is a company! POOP DISTRIBUTOIN,(wonder if they will ship the poop U.P.S one day)oh and for the ladies THE NUT RANCH !! or HAROLD CROUCH D.D.S. and yes rhere is a BUD WISER !! any way ,anyway just wanted to share my noval,pick one up and share with me!! peace lab rat

I am reading the best book right now. It is called "The Spellman Files" and it is about this girl who is a PI for her family business but she is so not together and a little wild and then her teenage sister is kidnapped and she has to pull it together to save her. The writing is so funny that I have been seriously laughing out loud while reading. I also just finished another book called "Lost and Found" and it is about these people who go on a reality show that is similar to the amazing race and it, too, was funny as hell. These both are great books to read while medicated, light and funny. Very enjoyable reading... maybe not as good as the phone book, but good nonetheless!!

I'm reading "Flow My Tears, The Policeman Said" by Philli[p K. Dick. Every page frightens me more and more (Dick's tales focus on paranoia, and the common man selling his neighbors out to the government for nothing, total distopia), but I can't put it down. This is his best besides "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?". Dickophiles (lol) rise!

ok this david sadaris!! my wife likes his works!! matter of factwere making a romantic(o.boy) trip in late april to U.C.S.B arlington theatre he is kool when we go on short trip i put one of his C.D. in !! peace lab rat

My favorite author of all time is Kinky Friedman. He writes mystery novels and they are really hillarious. I reccomend his books to everyone!

I knew you had to be a Sedaris fan Labby!!! He's one of my absolute favorites! His audio books are awesome as well, since his sister Amy (Strangers With Candy) does all the female voices!

I'll throw some names on this list! I'm a classics person, so it's Hemingway all the way! A little Steinbeck sometimes... But mostly Burroughs, Bukowski and my man who I miss everyday, Hunter S. Thompson!!

I'm also a huuuuge comic book fanboy! If anybody were to read books by Alan Moore (Watchmen, V For Vendetta), Warren Ellis (Transmetroploitan {A book that changed my life!!!}, The Authority), Neil Gaimen (Sandman), **** Smith (Bone) or Garth Ennis (Preacher) they would never say comic books are for kids! Alan Moore is the greatest living writer to me!

Oh, and I'm dying for the last Harry Potter!! I've read them all a few times... Shes a suprisingly good author!

LOL - He also ran and lost the race for Gov of Texas this year. His real name is Richard, but he has "kinky" hair and has always gone by that name. Although you will find his books in normal bookstores, you may find the author himself in the kinky ones!! LOL
Also, Kinky led the 70s band "Kinky Friedman and the Texas Jewboys" and they sang such classics as "They Don't Make Jews Like Jesus Anymore" and "Get Your Biscuits in the Oven (And Your Buns In The Bed)"

My all-time favorite book is "The Grapes of Wrath" and I have my own personal little countdown till HP book 7 comes out. I will mourn the end of that series for sure!

Many many many books, he's dead already. Just Amazon him, and you'll say to yourself, I've seen that movie. Too bad the movies (ie Minority Report) fail in capturing his world. Scanner Darkly is the best adaptation of them. Enjoy.

It is. His full birth name is Phillip Kidred Dick (not making it up). He has the coolest name ever for an author.

David Sedaris is awesome. His scripts even rock. Everyone, rent "The Saddest Music in the World", and watch it highly medicated. You'll thank me for this rec.

Phillip K. Dick has a special collection of letters, manuscripts, correspondance, ephemera, etc. at Cal State Fullerton. He lived and wrote prolifically in Orange County California.

Start with "The World Jones Made" published in 1954 or 56. It was before he really got into LSD and Amphetamines. This guy published hundreds of novels and short stories.

I am really a book nerd and PKD is my favorite second only to Orwell.

Like science fiction with both technical details and great moral stories?

"Stranger in a Strange Land", 1961 by Robert A. Heinlein.

Heinlein wrote a whole bunch of GREAT sci-fi novels, as well as a WHOLE BUNCH of short stories. Something for everyone there.


As a Vietnam vet, one of my favorites, "We Were Soldiers Once... And Young" by Lt. Gen. Harold (Hal) G. Moore (ret.), and Joseph L. Galloway. (Non-fiction) This is a MUCH better and more complete story than the movie Mel Gibson made using the same name. I have met Hal Moore, and I find him to be an outstanding Gentleman, an insightful and well read man, and the kind of Infantry officer I would follow to hell.

Many of the men in this book meet around Veteran's Day at the Vietnam Memorial Wall, in Washington DC. At dawn, they solemnly read the names of their brothers who were killed in the Battles at Ia Drang in the days depicted in the book. They then read the names of their brothers who have passed in the last year. It is a very moving moment.
